Question Are the leather seats covered under basic warranty? Heavy wear after 31.5K miles.

The leather on the side of the seat is cracking after 31.5K miles on my 2009 Forester XT. Is that something covered?

I would be surprised if they did, leather needs user maintenance i.e. cleaning and most importantly conditioning.

Otherwise overtime and use it looses its softness and cracks.

And this is why I don't want another car with leather seats. My 99 Eclipse had tan leather seats and I spent more time cleaning and conditioning them then I did driving the thing.

I also highly doubt they will replace worn seats. Broken yeah but not worn from getting in and out.

Can I bring my car to you? ;P Left back driver bolster (08 STi, 30k) is creased/wearing quite a bit more than I would expect. Not actually cracking though. Dealer shot me down; said it would have to be pretty bad to be covered. (they have been good to me in the past.) I guess there are 4 other local dealers I can try...

NORMAL wear and tear is covered....the key word being 'normal'

However, if you wear a belt or something that has sliced or put holes in seats, then that would be an iffy situation.

I have 85k on my car and the stitching just separated in the middle of panel where my butt goes. was wondering if this would be covered, but i doubt it. i certainly don't want to try pulling the leather cover off myself to have it repaired.

^ Your car is beyond the basic warranty. I doubt an extended warranty would cover a wear type item.

How's your weight? The M3 I bought a few years ago came from a 250 - 280 pound gentleman. Though the car only had 12,000 miles on it he had already worn out the side bolsters in the driver's seat because of his, ahem, portliness.
