I'm looking to buy an '06 STi in the very near future. The description of the car has a few things that need questioning. Here is the car described:
GREAT condition 60,300mi UTEC ECU Turbo XS FMIC Blouche Dom 2.5 xtr turbo (after 4k rpm, it's a demon) ~22psi BC racing coilovers (ez adjustable) Rays eng wheels (VERY nice) Blitz Short Ram HKS Turbo back, Ti tip exhaust (distinctive yet LOUD) unknown bored DP Agency Power Fuel Rails 800cc Deatchwerks Injectors Upgraded fuel pump ACT Street clutch and prolite flywheel (brand new, quick shifting) HKS short shifter (very short throws = fun ) I mounted an oil catch can but did not hook up (lazy me, I have all the tubing lol) I will be removing the tinted tail lights (not street legal), replacing the windshield (small crack, I can pay for that fix), and replacing front O2 sensor (cruise light on due to possible O2 sensor malfuncition). Other than that the car is solid. I will miss it but it's time for me to grow up (at least a little). This part is where I turned to NASIOC for help. I've asked him how the 02 sensor has to do with his Cruise Light, whic he said is "one of those things". Also, I made sure the 60k mi service was done. So far everything seems legit, but what do you guys think? Thanks. |

Unless you can get someone near you (fill out your profile so we know where you are) to give you a second opinion, it's hard to do this over the web. Pics might help too. Does it have service records? |

We've agreed to run a diagnostic check on the vehicle along with a test drive. I just didn't know how a Cruise Light didn't also produce a CEL, but instead was the effect of a bad 02 sensor. PS. Profile filled and as far as service records, I have to check on that. |

If it's got an aftermarket tune, they may have disabled the CEL for that code... |

Go to AZP Installs with the car and have them check it PRIOR TO purchasing. They will recommend X, Y, and Z tests, do them no matter the cost. Then they will tell you if you should purchase the car or not. If you do not follow my advice I will ban you from these forums, track your IP to your address and mail you a large mouth bass covered in mayonnaise third class parcel post.

Where at in Virginia? I know every single Subaru owner in Virginia and every single Subaru shop within 1900 miles. Give me a city and I have your back.

Wonderful, then all you need do is give Dan at call at www.fastwrx.com and chew his ear about it. He will give you an honest opinion, can perform a pre-purchase inspection or tell you of a closer shop to have this done and what checks he'd recommend. Dan's a good dude....will steer you right.

^^^This is correct. Anyone who is lucky enough to live within an hour or two of AZP should use them for sure. It's a shop run by honest Subaru enthusiasts, and their prices are very fair. I go to them for anything I cannot do myself.
