Default Re: Subaru genuine oil filter for Legacy 2000 GT...

Is this the exact same filter that is used on the Impreza? I have Subaru oil filters I bought for my 2002 OBS and I want to switch to Mobil 1 filters. My son has a 2000 Legacy GT and I wonder if he can use my filters? I don't want to say anything to him because if they fit I'll set them aside as a "stocking stuffer" at Christmas--I have six of them.

Wow, I wish my mom gave me oil filters for christmas!

As far as I know there is only two filter designs for subaru 90+, and even that is debated. Some filter manufactures ignore this and only make one filter to go for all of them. Fram (crap) comes to mind.

Thanks for the info. Hey, maybe you're on to something. Perhaps there is a code alphabet where the letters F-R-A-M really mean C-R-A-P!

Hmmm, F=C and M=P!
