Default Detailed: Ferrari Testarossa

I had the opportunity to detail a Testarossa that belongs to an acquaintance.

For being over 20 years old and never having been detailed, the paint was in pretty good shape. There was definite oxidization and "pinking", and plenty of swirls.

The interior was very clean, so I just cleaned and conditioned all the leather (which was pretty much every surface), and 303'd all the plastic and vinyl parts.

For the exterior I washed the car, then clayed it, followed by another wash.

After masking off all the trim, I used my PC7424 and an orange 4" LC pad with Menzerna SIP. I only did one pass on the car since it is single stage paint and I didn't want to chance going through into the primer. I'd say the single pass removed 97% of the swirls.

After buffing out the paint, I topped everything off with a coat of Poorboy's EX. All black exterior trim was treated with Poorboy's trim restorer.

Needless to say the owner was blown away with the results. I think he was expecting a good wash and wax.

A few before shots (for some reason I didn't take any engine bay shots, but that got cleaned up as well)

A couple half-half pics from a single pass on the hood

Nice job man! That car is a classic and still gorgeous. Did you get to take it for a spin as part of the price? ;-)

Its interesting how any one part of that car by itself is pretty boring. for example, the pictures of the hood could have fooled me as a 89 Honda Prelude, and the roof looks like a similar year Pontiac. But, when you see a few parts of the car or more at once, its something completely different.

Nice job, btw. looks better than my 4 year old subaru paint
