Default Need a detailer in the CNJ/LI area. Chemical Plant damage.

I worked at a chemical plant for a year and a right out of college while I was job searching. I now have this 'film' on my entire car. I am POSITIVE it has to be from the plant because I have washed/waxed/claybar'd and it will not come off. I have tried 'stripper wax' hoping it was wax buildup, didn't work. Thought that maybe it was water-marks, its not.

I recently had my windows tinted and even tho the tint goes on in the inside, he tried to help me with the outside windows. It won't come off with his cleaning products, razorblades, or the only steel wool ok to use for automotive glass.

I have come to the conclusion that I cannot fix this. I need to have this taken care of. I'm hoping that this 'film' is on the surface and not in the clearcoat/paint.

I'm hoping someone here can refer me to someone who can look at it and tell me what is going on with it, then we could go from there. Yeah, yeah, there is a search button but I do not need a generic detailer. I need to find someone that can do something with this that I cannot do myself to actually fix this issue.

....my advice? Sign up on a detailing-specific forum like Autopia.org and ask your question there. Many of the members there are professional detailers and will likely be able to recommend someone reputable in your area.

On a side note (if this were me and I was trying to tackle the problem myself)), I would look into a good decontamination product like Valugard ABC (http://www.valugard.net/cms/xramp/Va...4/Default.aspx). It may help remove some (or all) of the “film” you speak of. After that, I would start looking into abrasive solutions (compounding/polishing). …..starting with a test area first to observe my progress and re-assess if needed. The sad fact is that the damage may be bad enough that no level of buffing, wet sanding, etc. will remove all of the defects without severely compromising the finish.

It feels like its on the surface and not yet into the clearcoat/paint, which gives me a little hope, but part of me has already accepted the fact that it might not be able to be fixed easily.

I definitely would like a second opinion of it tho before I buy yet another product.
