Default how to remove 2011 front bumper... Easy!

Im posting this because a couple people had asked me how to remove it or they had been skeptical on how easy it is. I also wrote a DIY $10 front grill thread and taking the bumper off is part of that. Im sorry i didnt put everything into one thread. This thread was by request.

Here is the link for that thread
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hlight=sobejoe

There are 14 plastic clips in all if I'm not mistaken. You can start by prying up the any of these clips in any order that you want, left, right, bottom, or top.

just ignore that i broke one of these clips haha. Fit is still 99% perfect

Now just pull the entire bumper off. Obviously care should be taken so that one side isnt off and the other side is still attached because if may crack. I doubt it though. To be safe just loosen each side and pull the whole bumper off from the middle... I hope that made sense

Hope this help somebody out there!

Really? The whole bumper is held on by only clips?

I did it after reading your thread except I made mine flush with the outside. I had to fix it a bunch this winter. Large ice chunks off trucks suck.

im glad you took the time to write this up man. two months ago i was driving the opposite direction from another car and some stupid kids thought it would be funny to throw there water bottle out there damn window and clipped the front edge of my bumper and cracked it!! i could of killed these kids cause my car only had 4000 miles on it at the time. NOW im forced to get it fixed and dont like the idea of having my bumper taking off to get it fixed at my shop. needless to say it was a very angry moment and thank god they got away!

Damn, no wonder the bumper feels like it could fall off at any moment. Can't believe they couldn't put a few actual screws in the thing to mount it securely.

I don't know how many bumpers you've taken off but my 04 is the same way (Now with even fewer clips!!) and has never once fallen off.

Nice write up. Just finished fixing a crack in my bumper. Having these pics of where the clips are made it that much quicker and easier to remove.

do you know what those clips holding the bumper on are called? and can they be purchased at any local hardware store?

I broke about 3 of them off on the right side of my bumper when i hit something...

hmm not sure what their actual name is but I've seen them on a few different types of objects/cars/whatever so I'm sure you can find them somewhere. If they don't have something similar at a hardware store then try Hobby Lobby or similar type stores.

I took the bumper off and re-installed it, I have a small gap under the fender though.
Anyone know what went wrong?

You can buy a bag of those clips at Autozone, Pepboys, that kind of place. It's good to have some extras around because they're easy to break. Eventually they get sand and crap in them and it makes them harder and harder to take out. I've had to rip a few out with a pair of pliers.

That top clip on the front of the fender well that you said you broke, it works different. You have to push the middle of it all the way in, and that loosens it up so you can pry it out. And the three below it have Phillips-head fittings in the middle, so you need to use a screw-driver to loosen them about a quarter-turn, and then you can pry them out.

I'm pretty sure for the ones in the wheel wells at least that you can push a screwdriver in and pop them out like buttons. Then you can pry them out. Sorry for the post two years later but I figure I might as well add something...might prevent breaking a clip or two.
