Need a lil help

My check engine light came on this morning and at the same time my cruise control light came on but flashes on and off. Pressing the cruise control button does nothing to affect it. I drive an 08 wrx sedan. My VDC light also came on and stays on. I turn it off and on with the button but that also had no affect on the light staying on. Any ideas on what this could be? I am do for an oil change (3,200) since last one but I don't see how that would in any way make my VDC and cruise control lights trip out. All of this just happened this morning at the same time. I'd love to hear if anyone else had/had this problem and what's the best way to go about it

A similar problem on my 07 Impreza. The cruise light was blinking and my check engine light was lit solid. It was a PO851(Park/neutral switch circuit low power). I reset the computer and so far so good.

the cruise light flashes always when the check engine light turns on. the ecu disables the cruise because if it sees a problem (such as a bad enough misfire) then the cruise wont function properly anyway. just pull the code and post it, or take it to the dealer or the local auto shop

Got my code pulled. It says my cat is bad. My car only has 48k miles. What kind of damage can driving it like this cause? Im cuttently out of town LA area and i live in SD. Dont wanna cause anymore damage driving back. I should still be covered under warrantee but the dealerships service department up here is closed till Monday. Thanks a lot folks

Call me skeptical, but I don't think it says "your cat is bad".

I'm guessing it's a P0420 which doesn't mean "your cat is bad" but rather it means "The ECU is receiving signals from your A/F and O2 sensors that indicate there is a problem with your emissions system".

It could be an exhaust leak.
It could be a vacuum leak.
It could be an injector.
It could be an A/F sensor.
It could be an O2 sensor.
Or it could be your cat.

Since you're under warranty, just take it to the dealer and have them do a drive cycle and diagnose it properly.

I was too stupid to write down the code. Saw the wording and know that it's specifically stated the catt. Two different errors. One was front one was rear. I'm gonna research and post it if I can find it. Worst case I go get it read again and post the code

Yup P0420 is the code that I saw.... This link has different verbage then what u had posted but it is what I had seen when the mechanic showed me the obdII.... I am driving back to San Diego tomorrow from the LA area... I won't be able to have the dealership look at it cuz they are closed till Monday. I should be fine with driving it back right? I am a first time subie owner... So I really appreciate you guys putting up with my questions that sound pretty idiotic to you guys lol. Thanks a lot once again
