Default 02 wrx tranny oil change question....

Well heres the thing...i have an 02 wrx tranny, and an 02 wrx rear diff. it grinds 4th gear (from 3d to 4th) at high rpm (4k and up). thing is ive noticed since its getting colder up here in NY it doesn't do it at all. but once it warms up there it is again. next week ill be changing the diff oil with Mobil 1 75W-90 LS. and i was thinking about changing the tranny oil too, i know it takes 3.7 qts. i was wondering if it would be wise to put 1 qt Lucas oil stabilizer, and 2.7 qts of w.e gear oil (no idea what brand). What do you guys recommend i do?

My browser won't let me open that link. It calls it an "ad". Eh.

If it's the transmission cocktail, do it. 1 qt pennzoil synchromesh, 1 qt redline shockproof, 2 qts castrol hypoy c 80w90.

Here's a thread on it:

You can use M1 LS in the rear diff, but do not run it in the tranny. It has limited slip additives (hence the LS) and usually makes the synchros too slippery. The synchros need a bit of friction for the best engagement and that's the point of the cocktail. If you want to run Mobil synthetic, try Mobil Delvac. It's tough to find but I get mine from lufteknic. Delvac does not have Limited Slip additives.

Perhaps the oil was too thick since it was cold when you drained it and not all of it drained out. As long as the oil on the dipstick is between the L and F I wouldn't worry about it.
