Default 2012 Hill Country Cruise

Spring 2012 Hill Country Meet & Cruise

March 3, 2012

**UPDATE** To sign up for the cruise , please visit THIS SITE and specify your driving style by selecting from the "Items to Bring"

HERE is the route we will be taking. Its one a lot of us are familiar with but please let me know if you have any questions. We will be making stops along the way for gas, drinks, etc.

DOWNLOAD MAP HERE

Link to GPX file that you can import into your fancy GPS device: 2012 Hill Country Cruise.txt

Schedule

11:30 - 12:00 - Meet @ Rudy's on N 183 (map here)

1:00 - Caravan out towards hill country, stop at staging area (the Tetco @ 71 & 620) and depart

You dont have to eat at Rudy's but try to show up with enough time to meet everybody, go over route, listen to the safety briefing, etc.

Rules

1. Have Fun

2. Be Safe

3. Don't be a douche

For those of you that have never attended one of these, this is not a race. There are some areas that you will probably be able to open it up a bit but keep in mind that these are public roads. Also, some of the roads can be a bit challenging at high speeds even without traffic.

So - In addition to driving safely, its important to know your limits, as well as the limits of your car.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of your vehicle. While this is a NASIOC cruise and there will be mostly Subarus in attendance, we are a very welcoming group and do not discriminate (unless you bring a Hummer )

Bring Radios!!! - Walkies allow instant communication; call out road damage, animals, traffic, etc. They're also not dependent on cell towers for reception.

UPDATE (02/10/2012):

I have 5 group leaders now. I'll have the group assignments made by the 3rd. Thanks to everyone who offered to help!

UPDATE (02/05/2012):

I spoke with a manager @ Rudy's this morning and gave him the heads up due to the potentially large turnout this time. Since they dont take reservations, I will be showing up a little early (10:30 or so) to reserve some tables outside (or inside if weather sucks). If anyone wants to show up early to help, maybe direct traffic to form an impressive lineup in the parking lot, that would be greatly appreciated.

Here is some video of the route, courtesy of our very own mightymints:

3 Sisters murdered my front end from all the loose gravel.

I'm thinking an abbreviated cruise would be ideal. That and this time I'm bringing all my kit since evidently podunk ass EMTs don't know ****.

I'm 100% cool with that. The short cruise allows for us to meet up for an early lunch or whatever and to take our time, taking a couple of breaks along the way.

Dimitry (rexassian) has a great route that we could do. As soon as I get the exact route, I'll post it up and see what you guys think.

Very interested. We had plans to do this some where around early may. I know a few subies here and a couple of bikes that would love to tag along.

I've led a few Hill Country Cruises w/the Evo crowd and I really like your route.
If Evos are allowed I know I could get a few to follow along.
I have a really fun back road route I could show the DFW group on the way down Sat morning

What route do you have in mind. I usually do Cleburne, Glenn Rose, Hico, Hamilton, Lampasas, Austin.

I have set several personal speed records between Hico and Glenn Rose

I would never discriminate. All are welcome as far as I'm concerned. I'll go ahead and put you down as attending, DEVO330.

Also - thats rexassian's awesome route

I'm in, don't have a preferred date as I can't plan that far ahead anyway. Too much going on at home and work.
