Default Subaru vs. Mitsubishi Cup 2012

I'm proud to announce the inaugural Subaru vs Mitsubishi Cup. I ran the idea by Greg Lilly (glilly) and he suggested that I post the information here.

Purpose:
The goal of the competition is to get Subaru and Mitsubishi owners to participate in the various types of motorsport activities held throughout DFW.

Cost:
The cost to enter the competition is $30. From this, entrants will receive a t-shirt (blue for Subaru owners and red for Mitsubishi owners) and a sticker which must be displayed on the vehicle.

How to sign up:
You will have to go to a participating business to sign up for the Cup. At that time, you will order your t-shirt (they are made to order) and receive your sticker. We will get your shirt to you before the first event.

If you are not in the DFW area and still want to participate, you can sign up here for the competition.

Current list of Sponsors: (If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please feel free to contact me):
Evolution Dynamics
Cobb Tuning Plano
Don Herring Mitsubishi Irving
Texas Track Works

How the competition works:
After you sign up for the competition, all you have to do is attend any or all of the events shown in the schedule below. Participants are awarded 1 point per event in which they participate. Points are accumulated throughout the season according to car manufacturer. At the end of the year, the points are tallied up, and the team with the most points is crowned the winner of the Subaru vs. Mitsubishi Cup. The manufacturer name will be engraved on a tag and placed on the Cup (similar to the Stanley Cup). The cup will be kept at the winning manufacturer car dealership. The cup will travel to whichever manufacturer wins in that year.

End-of-year party:
At the end of the season, there will be celebration for all participants and family to attend. Hopefully, the weather will stay nice and we can have an outdoor picnic. The event will be catered (food and beer) at no expense to the participants and their family. If others want to come, they will be charged $15 upon arrival. The trophy will be presented to the winning team at the celebration. This will be a great time to get everybody together to swap stories and talk smack for the next year.

Schedule of events: (Regular entry fees still apply*)
Code:
Date Event type	Location	Organization
April	14	Autocross	Mineral Wells	NTAXS
April	29	Drag Race	Ennis Import Face-off
May	12	Autocross	TMS NTAXS
June	3	Dyno day	Cobb Tuning	Cobb Tuning
June	23	Rallycross	Brianne Corn Texas Rallysport
Sep	22	Road Race	MSR Don Herring
Oct	7	Road Race	Eagles Canyon	NASA TX
Oct	TBD	Drag Race	________	Dallas Imports
Oct	TBD	Car show	________	Dallas Imports
TBD Rallycross	________	North Texas Rallycross
*We are currently working with all organizers to offer a discounted entrance fee to each event. NASA TX has already agreed to discount the price by $50 for any participant in the Subaru vs Mitsubishi Cup who signs up for HPDE 1-4.

General rules:
1) The Subaru vs. Mitsubishi Cup is not a competition based on performance. It is simply a tool to encourage people to enjoy their cars. Any smack talking will be on a person-to-person basis.
2) As a participant, you can drive any vehicle as long as it is a Subaru or Mitsubishi. You will only receive 1 point per person per event. (e.g. In an autocross event where 2 people co-drive a Subaru and both are registered participants, you will receive 2 points for the competition OR if you drive 2 cars at an event, you will only receive 1 point.)
3) If you are registered for an event, you must drive the event. No stand-in Stigs.
4) You are not obligated to participate in any events. You can just sign up, get your shirt, and attend the party.
5) Vehicle type is ANY Subaru or Mitsubishi. Feel free to bring a Brat or Starion
6) At the end-of-year party, family means YOUR significant other and YOUR children. No moochers.

Picture of the Cup: The one we are getting will not say "Garden State Builders Association"

That sounds really fun, but quite a commitment... Thinking on it...

You aren't obligated to do all of them. You don't even have to do one if you don't want to. The idea is to just get more people involved in the various motorsport activities and have a big party at the end.

That would be awesome! It would be cool to get some out-of-towners up here to join in the fun.

Question: Would attending the HPDE at Eagles canyon count? Since the road race is only open to Advanced HPDE or licensed racers. (Not to mention wheel to wheel with my daily driver is probably a bad idea : P)

Also will there be something similar at the MSR event?

YES! attending the NASA day in ANY class counts! you can run HPDE 1, 2, 3, 4, and TT group or any RR group! obviously you need to have a road racing license to participate in the RR groups, and likewise for the TT. but HPDE groups are open to anyone, and you pick one based on your experience on the track... i.e. if you have never done it before, sign up for HPDE1. if you do it all the time and are comfortable on the track, HPDE 3 or 4 would be your group.

the 50 dollar discount NASA is offering anyone participating in the event only applies to the HPDE groups though.

the MSR event is ONLY an HPDE event. we will have no timing at all there, although we might be able to do some exhibition runs and ride alongs in some of the evodynamics TT cars, and even the pikes peak hill climb car we are building. you will be able to get an instructor in your car for both events if your in the beginner groups.

We are getting really positive response to this event! I'm hoping this will spur competition between the manufacturers and higher attendance to the events.

I spoke with Forest at Texas Track Works while we were racing at MSR Cresson over the weekend. He is super excited about the event and its purpose. I have added them to the sponsor list in the original post. So anybody in the Ft Worth area now has a great place to sign up for the event. And you can get one of the best alignments in DFW. You will not be disappointed. Be sure you tell them you are with NTEC.

We have had some interest from people outside of DFW wanting to join in on the competition. So, we have added an option to go to the EvoDynamics website to sign up.

If you cannot stop by one of the sponsor businesses, please click here to sign up.

We are getting great response from the Evo community. But nobody has pulled the trigger to represent the Subaru's. Come on guys. We need a little competition.

Don't forget, if you are not in the DFW area, you are more than welcom to join and can sign up by clicking here. If you do live in DFW, stop by one of the sponsors to sign up.

I'm really surprised so many evos signed up and so few subarus. I wish I could sign up but I don't have the time. Also my driving skills would most likely let team subaru down lol.

don't worry about how good you are at driving, if you just go to the events your increasing the team score! even if you come in dead last, its better then evos that don't show up to any racing events

The first event is only 11 days away! Are there any more autocross Subaru's out there that want to join? There are already 4 Evo's going to this event.

There is a Rallycross the same day as the first autocross down in Austin, keeping a few of the Subaru guys at bay.
