Default New stereo ideas?

I really want to get a new stereo that costs less than $650. I am set on getting a Kenwwod head unit and 4 speakers for the doors. Im just not sure about what speakers to get and if an amp and sub are worth getting. If i should go with the amp and sub would i have to make any elictrical changes.
I want to have at least 1 sub for sure but i know nothing about stereos so im just looking for guidance.
Thank you!

I'm sure someone else can answer your questions, but I'd also stop by a few local, car audio stores. Ask the same questions at each to get a good (overall) answer.

I would say stage it Get a new head unit and front speakers and keep the rear stock. If you are happy awesome stop spending money.

I you find your self wanting more then look at getting an amp and adding a sub.

For simplicity get a 4 channel amp and bridge the rear channels for the sub.

So do you want a large double din a single din head unit what type of music do you listen too?

Nearly all reviews I've read were positive. For $290 shipped, its a deal that's very difficult to beat with another big brand. The detachable face was a must for me.

JVC has definitely moved up in the audio world. I remember 10 years ago when it was the bottom of the rung. I'll post impressions when I spend some time with it.

If you like the deep bass then subs would be great! I have a 2000 impreza l wagon and with cheap brand subs with an amp and they hit so hard. with new speakers it was amazing! It was a sealed box with 2 12" Visionik Subs with matching amp. If you could, I would recommend trying to install them yourself since local shops normally charge out the ass for basic work that anyone with a little research can do.

Good Luck!

Ok, this is how i woupd do it/did it for maximum levels of enjoyment.
1. Start with a double din, no more than 350-400. It has so many more ways to adjust the music and fine tune the speakers that youd be amazed at the difference a nice, keyword being nice, HU will make. then because your bass oriented, get a decent twelve in a sealed box and a four channel amp that runs at 4 or two ohms stable. at first youll just have the sub running off 2 channels, like channel 1 & 2 together. youll have a nice tunable setup with bass. Then save and put a decent set of front components, with spacers(very easy to make or buy) and you would amp the front speakers off channel 3 & 4. Boom you have quality sound up front, where you actually sit, a powered sub, and you can just get a little set of 5 1/4's for the rears and run it off of the headunit seeing as how they are least important. Or get a small two channel for the back which is the direction I went. Rear doors are the least of your concern. Itll be great this way! Do it in stages! Good Luck
