Rear Brake upgrade done.

Got the rear brake upgrade done a couple of weeks ago. Borrowed a friends digi cam to take a pic. The before pic is still on my analog cam. This is a relativly easy and cheap upgrade for Forester owners with minor modification to the dust shields. All parts Subaru OE. The Brake feel and stopping is better than with just the front upgrade. No more slamming the nose down when putting on the brakes, which is better when you need to slow down quick cause you see a white car with roof lights approaching.

Original Rotors 10.3", new rotors 11.3"

Parts I used:
1 x 26696FC002 - WRX rear brake pad kit
2 x 26625AE000 - H6/Legacy rear caliper bracket
2 x 26700AE04A - H6/Legacy rear rotor - solid not vented.

Cost me about $600 CDN. That would be $300 - $400 US for you. Got the parts from my "friendly local Subaru dealer ".

Mod requirement - the dust shield that "wraps" around the rotors has to be bent back or trimmed off. I chose the trim method and cut it off just inside of the bend. I think it looks better too. The rest is just a straight parts swap.

I mounted a stock S Alloy wheel on the front to make sure that the clearence is still there for my winter wheels/tires and had no issues. I assume that the rears will not be an issue either as the brake assembly requires less space.

im installing 4pots next week and thinking of doing this to,but with DBA slotted rotors.......how much was the calliper bracket??whats the story with pads.......are they different although the same calliper is used

The caliper brackets are about 95 CDN$ each.

You can use the same Forester pads. I was told that the WRX pads use slightly different compound so I picked those instead. Price and size were the same.

Thanks for the post. Good to know that they'll fit under the stockers. Some of us will want to run stock rims for our winter set. Nice that you included the part numbers. This goes in my mod list.
