Ok lets start off by saying that I am not going to take credit if anything happens to you car if you do this. This is the install of a oil catch can in a 2002 wrx w/fmic.
Parts: Oil catch can hose i used 1/2 in inside diameter razor knife zip ties and about 1/2 of free time T split to split the hose First off I found a place that would hold the catch can and look clean. I chose right next to the radiator. I drilled a couple of holes to mount the catch can (no pic of holes). And used zip ties to hold the can in place. ![]() ![]() Next I removed the old stock hoses and ran my new hose, measure twice and cut once. I choose clear hose so I can see the oil. I had to heat up the hose that is going to the turbo inlet to get it on, that part is the only pita part. I used zip ties to hold the hoses together so they don't move around and get a hole. Here are the rest of the install pics, very self explanatory. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Oh yup.. There it is. Not used to the stock inlet. Why didn't you T into the crankcase vent? I'm setting up mine tonight an am trying to make sure I will be ok with just one catch can. Una's catch can FAQ says two is best, and it actually says that T-ing into the crankcase vent is the wrong way I do it, but I'm still a little confused as to why it's the wrong way. I know that 02/03 MYs don't have the PCV valve so it seems like a T coming from the crankcase would be best... I've been running no catch can with the crankcase T'd into the valve breather line for years with no issues... That I'm aware of...

Two is better than one . But since I only had the money for one it will work. Its T ed into the crank case.

Did some reading last night. 2 catch cans it is.. It's disappointing that Perrins turbo inlet instructions call for a T into the vale cover vent line, when that's not the correct way to set it up. Now I've got to figure out a way to plumb back into the inlet from the crankcase vent, without T-ing into the valve cover vent lines. Home depot here I come.
