Default Ark Performance Grip Exhaust

Does anyone have this exhaust?! What does everyone think of it?

I've had one on my car since February. Quality of construction and sound are excellent, no drone. Love the way it looks, similar to OEM but a little more aggressive (tips aren't completely swallowed up by the rear bumper). Bolted right up with no problem (Perrin downpipe). Only downside was installing it out in the driveway in February.

Pretty pricey though. Certainly gives the "exhaust is just pipes" crowd a clear target. At the time I was thinking that since I plan to keep the car it was worth it, but if I had it to do over again, I don't know. I'm not taking it off, though.

ETA pics. I'm no photographer, but you get some idea.

Was watching these videos last night. Really like the tone of this exhaust. You answered my question about the drone.

How loud is it compared tO stock? I'm not looking for something too loud, just a bit more aggressive. One of the videos I was watching last night made it seem like the exhaust hangs pretty low, and I was worried about clearance issues.

ARK, what is the difference between the GRiP and the DT-S?

I have a catless DP and want the most mellow cabin sounds between the two.

Also curious if you all have a sound clip of a car with a equal length header?

The dt-s similar design to factory. And GRIP looks aggressive and angled design center canister.

I just installed this exhaust a couple weeks ago. Looks awesome(from 10 ft away), sounds awesome… FITMENT WAS HORRIBLE.

I had to have $300 in custom pipe fabrication done to get it to fit. This does not include the $100 i was already spending to have the catback flange changed to fit an Invidia down pipe(which was my choice).

I am happy now that its on, I like it enough, but its clear the engineering ARK claims is not all there. The mid pipe was off by 4 or 5 inches. It was the pipes that go around the rear diff that were too short and I had to have a section added to complete the bend around the diff.

It would be nice if you pay extra money for an exhaust like this not to have to dump a whole lot more money trying to get it to fit. Another thing that bothers me about the exhaust is the tips are all slightly different in length and direction, and the ark logos on the tips are all in different locations, not facing directly up as they should be. Kinda like seeing a cute girl from far, but when you get close she has acne and a major snaggle tooth.

Every other exhaust I've ever bought for any of my cars just bolted up with no fit issues. Cobb, Invidia, magna flow – never an issue until this one.

I reached out to ARK before I had the pipes totally cut up(except the flange thing, that was pre-planned and done before the fitment issue found) and they did not stand behind their product. They actually called the shop when I was there having everything installed, at my request, and never called me back. The shop told me that ARK said they would take care of me somehow(which is what I gathered from listening to the conversation as well), but when I called them again, they acted like this never happened. Im disappointed to say the least.

My girlfriend has the Grip exhaust on her 2011 hatch and she loves it. No drone at all and sounds really nice. She doesn't like loud exhausts, so this was perfect for daily driving. She hasn't had any issues with it. I'll be getting the DT-S for my 2011 WRX sedan.

Here's a video taken with my crappy camera:

Just curious, did you try installing the exhaust before the shop messed with it?

Oh no - it works, i just was disappointed with my experience of having to shell out money that I wouldn't have had the part been properly designed. If this saves someone else some money, I will be happy...

I am not expecting nor do I want anything from ARK. Just an honest part/vendor review from my experience.

sedan here, fitment was spot on...easy install looks and sounds great. Different sounding than most other GR exhausts and all my GR friends agree

Dollars to cents your modification is what made it not fit, the experience was your fault (the shop's really). They cut off a major portion to weld on the flange, without ever fitting the rig to your car. To be honest, I'm not even sure why a shop would agree to that in the first place.

Had the grip on my 11 STI sedan for over a year now. Had a shop do the install and they were praising how good the fitment was. OP, if you are looking for an exhaust with some flashiness that is more aggressive sounding than stock and still mild on the overall decibals then this is it. Literally zero drone on the highway, tad louder/more aggressive note over stock, and good fitment. As already stated, only drawback is the price.

But your probably catted... Therefore you could drive a straight pipe and not have any drone.

Other than the one unfortunate turn of events with fitment, has anyone had any issues or heard of any issues fitting it to the invidia catted down pipe?

Any more feedback on the GRiP? Looking to pull the trigger on an exhaust by the end of the day tomorrow, and this is a finalist, albeit the more expensive one. I've read some horror stories on ARK quality control and customer service, so I'm a bit nervous....but I love the look and sound of thhis exhaust, and being my hatch is my daily, I like the reports of no drone. Please help me out!

how much louder than stock is this? I'm looking at it as well. Trying to find one that is bearly louder over stock and have perfect fitment as I need it to be with the 2008 wrx I have.

I currently have a 3.5 double wall Nameless Magnaflow and I absolutely love it. Thing is, I wanted a 4" tip to fill out the bumper but the one magnaflow had didnt fit the way I cut my bumper. The tips inside are to close.

So here are my questions in summary. How loud over stock? (I'm running a Nameless Magnaflow for a reason, rating 1(stock)-10(straight-pipe) would be nice, nameless is about a 2-3) And would anyone kindly (with a hatch) measure the distance between the two inner tips? That's where the nameless failed on my car being to close inward.

Here's my current nameless.

thanks!!

I had one on my '11 WRX sedan (burnt tip). The fitment was perfect (stock downpipe), and the exhaust note was fantastic. Unfortunately I didn't get to take it off when I traded my WRX in for a '11 STi. I've researched other exhaust systems that sound pretty great and are less expensive, but I just really dig the Ark GRiP. I'll be buying another one either this weekend (if there's a black Friday sale) or during the summer.
