Default EJ22T - Should this hole be threaded?

I was tearing an ej22t motor down to the short block and noticed that there was a weird brass plug with RTV sealant around it plugging a hole right behind the EJ22 casting mark. I pulled it out. My question is, what is this hole for and should it be threaded or smooth? I'm wondering if a prior owner stripped it out. Here is a pic:

No, its a breather port, there's supposed to be a 90 degree fitting there that's part of the crank case breather system

Many folks who use the EJ22T shortblock as the base for non-Legacy builds plug the hole, as you found.

It isn't part of the main breather system. It is only connected to the rocker covers on each side - sort of an equalization system. The main PCV breather lines go to a second set of ports on each head.
