-3" TBE -K&N Typhoon CAI -FMIC -Walbro 255 The car was purchased with these parts on it.. It was Pro-Tuned by BYT Turbo (Sea Level) to 18psi and then drivin to denver (Mile High), timing belt skipped on last owner, I bought the car, Got the Heads rebuilt, and now I drive it. It runs great and feels quick, but if I do a pull and then a minute later do another pull, the 2nd pull feels much quicker. Is it just me "trippin" or could the ECM be correcting something or learning everytime? FYI: I put an AEM Wideband/Boost Failsafe guage in to monitor everything and under WOT it runs in Stoich or just a tad rich (Not sure of the #s at the moment). It hits 15psi and drops off to 12psi by redline. I havnt had it re-tuned yet, it is still on the old tune. The car pulled a stock 05 STI multiple times by about a car and a friends Stage 2 STI Puts about 2 cars on it. (All done on a closed Road by NON-Professional drivers) Thanks! |

You need to log it for sure.
It's running 14.7 at WOT? That's a recipe for disaster. |

it's funny, I was looking at this exact wagon from a broker in Hagerstown, MD a few months ago I believe. I backed off when they couldn't tell me anything about the tune/boost/any of the mods. as far as the difference in feel, your butt dyno could need to be calibrated, or it could be the tune causing learning and correction. I'd go for a protune up in the Rockies. the air is much less dense that high above sea level. probably causing you to run rich.

Yep, same car... I actually found the guy that had the car and traded it into the dealership. It was tuned by Nick at Backyard Turbo on 18lbs. Be glad you didnt buy it from them.. A lady bought it from them (Access Auto Brokers) in MD and then drove it Here to denver. The car skipped timing as soon as she got here and then sold it to me as is. That, and there are title issues causing me to have to bond for a new title on it.. Its working out for my advantage because of the super low price I paid for it but definately a hassle. Anyways back on the subject: The wideband is reading between 13.5 - 14.1 during normal driving, and under WOT up to redline it is at 10.1-10.8. |

doesn't cooler air give more power since colder air is more dense? isn't that the purpose of an intake? thanks for the info!

wow. at least you got a good deal. they admitted that it was on its 3rd clutch and that's when I was finally 100% sure I didn't want it. it was rough to back off cause they were only asking like $6400 and that was an awesome deal. sucks that it jumped timing as from my understanding that can be anything from minor to complete pita. I found it on BYT after i said no. it belonged to some guy named Sal I think. it's crazy how it went from right down the street all the way to Denver!

Here is an article explaining it all if your interested: For many reasons you do not want to be running stoich at WOT, and we're all glad your car is not. Joel |

And if I were you, I'd drop the clutch at 6k a few more times. Maybe that way you can just put the car out of its misery. Seriously, you're gonna tell us you abuse your car and then ask why its losing power? Come on maaaaaan!
