Default 99 legacy gt wont rev or idle after timing belt job

Now i've dealt with subarus before but nothing this in depth. I've picked up a clean legacy gt, and im trying to get it back on the road but im stumped as to what the issue is. The previous owner had the harmonic balancer and keyway break on him so while fixing that he decided to do the timing belt. After doing that he got the issue im having now which is the car will fire right up but will not take any throttle at all.

Any throttle will result in a hard stumble and alot of popping through the intake which would make me think its a timing issue. I redid the timing and got everything lined up (did not use the marks on the belt) and fired it back up and got the same thing. One time in trying to get it to stay running before I redid the timing had the cats so hot it almost caught the car on fire. Im also not getting a knock sensor code which I think is unrelated and a cam sensor code.

I would think bent valves under any other circumstance, but one thing weird is when giving it gas to idle up, as soon as you let off the gas is will go to running smooth and clean for about 15 seconds and then die. I just need some opinions on what it could be. Thanks in advance.

Chk the Cam position sensors and crank position sensor and associated wiring for damage. Even if none is visible, could be a sensors or the device that triggers it.
