i know some ebay parts arent of the best quality esp for turbos, and some exhaust parts. i am looking to get a new turbo inlet pipe. ive seen several including the godspeed turbo inlet. they say its made of 5 layers of silicone etc. is this ok to get or is this another case or its better to just get an expensive high brand inlet pipe.

I would just go the extra mile for a hard inlet plus you can find a nice used one on here for like 200 or less

I ran a gimmik motorsports inlet on my 03 for a little over 4 years with multiple turbos. Tdo4, vf39, the largest being the evo3 16g at 23 lbs of boost. I never had any issues. There were people in my local area using it on larger turbos and I know eventually it will collapse, just dont know exactly when. If you have plans to do a "big" turbo build I might suggest a hard inlet, but for your average bear it will work great. Also, just as a side note, a hard inlet requires the removal of the intake manifold. Just something to think about when installing or paying someone to install it. Good luck!

<------------------------------------ Now know I can get you a deal on the inlet AND your turbo, but you should get the XTR variety of that 16g. Send me a PM with a hot chick and I'll hook you up. |

I got that same inlet hose recently for about $12 less on the bay. I can tell you from personally handling it that its good quality with five layers of reinforced silicone, though its string webbing, and not the steel cage reinforcement like a Perrin or Cobb. Even with the cheaper reinforcement its still fairly stout and resists collapse in hand (rated past 25psi). For the price though on a stock car you can't go wrong; go with a bigger turbo and you should get a better one.

Hard inlets can lead to fitment issues with intake manifold and fuel lines.
Research before you buy...seriously. And as always you get what you pay for. Ebay parts will always be Ebay parts. |
