I have been having this smoke come from my turbo, it doesnt always smoke, only from time to time. Im always smelling a burning smell though, not like a clutch burning and it doesnt seem to smell like burnt radiatot flyid either. I cant find a leak and i have 6.5 lbs of boost max (i put the restrictor pill in already).
My car is completly stock except for front and rear strut bars, sti exhaust, and clutch masters stage. 3 clutch + lightweight flywheel( brand new installed perfectly) I also think i have less power, i dont know forsyre though. I just got 2 valves rebuilt, many hoses and sensors replaced, stage 3 clutch, oil change, a factory clutch master cylinder, and some others, cant remember.. Can someone tell me where to start on fixing this problem? Do i have a bad turbo? Should i replace parts around the turbo? Could this be bad for my engine? Sorry the post is long, im just really concerned due to the amount of $$ i put getting her back to great running condition. |

Why would you have a "stage 3" clutch in a wrx putting down stock power??
How many miles are on it? If its the stock turbo on an 02 that's been driven regularly over the past 10+ years, then the turbo is most likely done. If its smoking it could be a blown seal and you're smelling the burning oil. A used td04 is like 100 or less in the forums. Turbo swap isn't too bad, maybe 5 hours of work if you're slow like me. |
