Default Your overpriced purchases?

What items have you bought / thought about buying for your subaru that you thought was just down right utterly overpriced?

Front fender liner clips (all of them). Fender liner cost me $49, but total cost for all the clips was like ~$75

so why did you buy a 'built motor'....and how much would it have cost to buy a new stock motor and have it blow up again and have it swapped out again??

Nah, I didn't mean it like that. It's just more than I wanted to spend on my car at the time. I would have much rather upgraded other parts prior to shelling out for a built short block (just to clarify the build a little). And unexpected elements caused the build to go longer than anticipated. It all worked out very well in the end and the motor runs great. I'm glad it went well, but just as glad it's over with.

I had hoped the stock motor would have held longer. The build was just more time and money than I wanted to deal with, period. Overpriced purchase I had no intent on getting into.

$27,000 for a used minivan. I know this was not for a subaru but I just had to vent. Thanks.

My FXT lip spoiler. I never curbed it, but it fell victim to heavy wet snow. They are $425ish from the dealer, and I don't believe there are any replicas out there. I just can't stomach spending that much on another...

That's $159, and stainless steel brackets.

I can remember the stock mud flaps for my 208 Evo X were even more...and the flaps were made of cheap plastic.

My car. At the time there were no 2011 wrxs on any lots in the tri-state and were all receiving their last shipment at the sametime. Most of them were already accounted for or already had deposits. The first dealership in the tri-state to call me got my money. I should have waited the 3-4 months for the 2012s. My fault for not being patient.

my engine from RAW performance, cost me about $11,000 to put the substandard work right again $14,000 if you include the money for parts that I payed for and was told he ordered and I never received. Thats on top of the bill I actually paid him

jdm ej207 with "48,860km" on the deregistration papers.... Only to have it spin a rod AND crank bearing at the same time....closer inspection of everything shows wear from a motor that is closer to 160,000 MILES!!!!

we all know how much money these swaps cost...woulda have been cheaper and easier to just swap in a EJ257 from a USDM sti....oh well....H6 swap now...

Came in here ready to say that I paid $660 for the Megan Racing catback because I purchased the axleback and midpipe separately, but then saw that IIR is charging $692 for it now.

I paid 2.95 for premium last night *head explode*

But anyway...Spec C roof vent. They obviously have the cool factor included in the price.

And the thin rubber lining that goes on top of your sideskirts, that rests against the body. Those bastards are 28 dollars per side

I would be more than happy to pay anywhere near $3.00 a gallon for premium. Average price for 93 in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago is around $4.00, that translates to about $120 a week for me

Last year I purchased a STi tmic and I needed the elbow that goes from the y pipe to the turbo. So I call up the dealership and the parts manager says "uh are they made out of gold?" I expected him to say like $50-$60 because I know that say "STi " on them so I chuckled and said "why how much are they?" He replied "$170" so of course I didn't buy it. Then also the window motor went in my wagon and they want $340 for it but the sedan one is only $90???
