Default FEEL LIKE AND IDIOT ASKING!! Oil Issues!!

I recently purchased purchased a 2002 WRX, this is the first oil change I have done to it (used Rotella T6 and Mobil 1 filter).

My issue, (have noticed many other people with the same thing) I can't for the life of me get a reading on the dipstick.

According to the guy I bought it from, the block is an 08 or 09 2.5 STI short block, but still has the 2.0 WRX heads.

Wondering what the oil capacity of the motor should be? Also, what the length of the dipstick should be? My car is sitting in the level garage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It appears that the dipstick is the WRX style.

The motor should take about 4 or 4.5 litres/quarts of oil.

I buy rotella T6 in 5L jugs and end up with a bit extra for top-ups after each oil change.

Take a scratch awl or similar and cross hatch the dipstick....this helps oil show up better. Capacity is dump a whole 5 qt in the motor. It's slightly less than that but 98,483 users just dump in a 5 and don't worry about it.

sump is 4.5 litres, most people who drive "spiritedly" or ventures to autox or trackdays etc, basically if you are going to give it a bit of boot every now and then, fill it to 5 litres.
