Sounds pretty reasonable, especially since his price includes shipping.

Have you actually researched to see what they sell for including shipping? I doubt it!

The above price should be lowered or it won't sell. Sorry.

Jeez, stop wrecking this guy's thread. PM if you truly have an issue with him. This is a for sale thread, not a discussion. What you say, whether or not it is true, may hurt his sales.

The added value comes with the blueprint good sirs. It may not be worth it to you, but to some it is worth it to know that the motor has been assembled to correct specifications. Some people like to have their oil clearances and ptw, and ring gaps etc... in spec.

Subaru does not spend the time(money) to do much of the finish work that can make these motors truly shine.

Thank you easterbran for reminding members how to properly use the PM function. I certainly do appreciate your constructive efforts towards the community.

If you truly feel I am asking to much and are compelled to communicate with me about price, the proper method is through PM's. Maybe we can work something out. If you have general ?s about the item listed this thread is the place for those.

pm i sent to the moderators. thiis guy is a huge scammer and ****ed me out of almost $3k

[quote=cranberryumyum]http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2402189

the link above is not the exact motor i bought, but he does reference it in that thread. there was never a thread made solely for the motor i purchased.

first hand turn of the motor yielded this:

i only took pictures of two cylinders. it makes my point.
further inspection showed all cylinder walls doing this, with an accompanying sound effects. the ridges you can see, you can feel. there is much more scoring than the pictures show, but it caught the important ones.

the seller has also not sent me the clearance sheet that he apparently made.

the motor was delivered two weeks late. the pistons were changed without my knowledge until the block had already shipped. at this point i am furious, and with no communication from him i called until he answered, and he proceeded to feed me more crap about how the scoring is normal, and the block did not need to be decked.

i promptly disputed the charges on paypal, and told him when he finally called back that i was going to have to wait until tomorrow to talk, because i was fuming mad. i was either going to:
be issued a full refund and he send me a prepaid slip for shipping the motor
or
have someone local do the required work and he would pay for anything necessary

well, he explicitly said no because there are no machine shops in the midwest that would be able to build a motor to the standards he has, and i then informed him i had been in touch with 6 star, p&l, tic, and tom hooker. he then tried to backtrack his many statements and said he would pay for the machining and parts that would need to be ordered. he finally contacted paypal and ignored the agreement we came to inn regards to him paying for the repairs that were needed.

so i present to you the pictures of the unpolished crank that he put in the shortblock, the scarring on the cylinders, and the missing case bolts.

i was supposed to have new rods, and these are obviously well used rods. the seller refuses to answer any calls from me claiming i verbally assaulted him. he would not answer my calls or texts, so i said "answer your f***** phone." he also claimed that if the block was split to assess the damage, his trade secrets would be stolen, which is almost comical considering the quality of craftsmanship he presented me with.

new rods

i decided to cut my losses and have the machine work done on my dime. knowing what i do about this seller, i believe he would not have honored my return and tried to scam me out of my money and the motor.

he should be paying for the work that i am paying for, but refuses to communicate with me.

ouch man.
Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that makes people who buy blocks "sight unseen" scared. While minimal scoring up and down is normal, the cross hatch is extremely important.

That scoring looks extremely severe.

i didn't buy it sight unseen. here is the link to his facebook album. looking more closely at them i can see a few of the issues. i wish i would have seen them sooner. but he didn't post them until after the motor had shipped.

but i have received a few pics via email that he only sent after multiple requests. and still has not sent the clearances sheet. which i havv e a hunch is going to be nowhere near within spec.

tom is unsure whether the scoring c an be honed out. if not, i'll have t get block halves.

the motor was also missing all the access hole covers. put that on top of the missing case bolts and i have already bought $100 in hardware just to have the motor assembled correctly

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...8627747&type=1

i also did not make it clear that i had a professional look at the block, and showed him the pictures in that album. i did not know the extent of the issues other than the scoring until i showed tom the pictures. then decided it would be more time effective if i had the necessary work done to it. the car has been out of commission for two months, and it was my daily. plus with no guarantee of the outcome of the return and the fact he would probably resell the block to someone else kept me from going that route.

Buyer contacted me about another motor I had,

It was clearly advertised as a rebuilt motor with eagle rods, pistons and jdm crank, new bearings rings seals etc..

Buyer contacted me claiming damage, I responded as soon as possible - sometimes I can't pick up my phone the exact second you call me.

Buyer was upset(understandable).

However after discussing the situation with both Paypal and other local businesses it was agreed upon that the best route for all parties was to use the Paypal returns process. Buyer refused and demanded that he be sent a blank check for an amount near $2000.

Seeing that as a huge liability and not being able to asses the damage personally I chose to stay with the approved Paypal methods under the advisement from Paypal that any other action would not be protected.

I saw the motor first hand and you truly **** him over big time. You left him out of a car, more money, added stress, etc for you to scam a take short cuts. This motor would have been toasted if it ever was installed. You owe him a lot of money.

you would not respond to any of my attempts to contact you the two days prior of me opening the box and putting the motor on a stand and seeing what scam you had sold me.

explain how your rebuilt motor has used bearings and an unpolished crank, in addition to neglecting five case bolts, not decking the block, and installing the pistons and rings incorrectly. you never explained it to me, so you at the very least owe it to the nasioc community.

also, you advertised the rods as new in case you forgot about that. i asked for a partial refund to pay for the machining, but you didn't take well to that suggestion. so here is the attached email that we agreed upon but you blatantly disregarded that outlined exactly what is the most fair solution proposed by a paypal supervisor which would have been a full refund and i would use those funds to fix what you screwed up and the rest would be returned.

"The seller will refund the full payment of $2,151.00 I paid to him for the motor to complete the necessary machine work and replacement parts to get the motor in useable condition, of which it is not at this present time. The seller stipulated repairs covered by this reimbursement will not exceed the purchase price of the motor, which is $2,151.00. After the machine work has been completed and the parts that needed to be replaced are replaced, the seller will receive the remaining balance left. The deposit for the motor will not be refunded, unless the repairs total over $2,151.00, bringing the total to $2,251.00. This is not expected to happen, but sourcing some parts will be difficult and costly if they are found to be unable to perform their duties. I will also be receiving a partial refund for the oil pump and head stud purchase of the payment totaling $300 in the amount of $100, and shipping that back to the seller. I will pay shipping costs for the oil pump. I am keeping the head studs valued at $200. The gasket kit purchase totaling $175 will not be refunded, and the details of that will be worked out between myself and the seller. That takes care of all four claims made."

when we talked the last time on the phone as soon as i mentioned the unpolished crank pictured in your facebook album you immediately changed your tone and agreed to the refund. and then went completely against that. at the very least you won't be screwing anyone else over.

because i have a 40 hour a week job and am in school for 14 hours a week and i didn't have time to pull it out and inspect it. finding time to unwrap this motor and put it on a stand is much harder than the hardships you experienced when you couldn't answer your phone. i had actually only had the motor for less than a week before i opened the box.

here is the picture you posted of the block ready for shipping that you can clearly see the top three case bolts missing. pardon me if i didn't trust you to fix this botched build based on the caliber of your previous work, and can't deal with another month (at least) of downtime

Why did the buyer wait so long after receipt of motor to inspect? Why did he not immediately return for inspection/refund?

I am not in control of this buyers decision. nor anyone's but my own. I empathize with buyer in having a car down, I sympathize with buyer that his secondary means of transport also broke during this period, but that is not my responsibility.

I offered buyer the same warranty and repair I offer all of my customers. If you have a problem with anything simply bring it in or return it and it will be inspected and/or repaired as necessary. If a refund is desired simply return the item in unused condition.

And I'll be posting pictures of the burrs on the rod bearings and the pieces of gunk the crank bearings were installed over. A running total here is $600 for machining, plus another $100 for the access covers and bolts you neglected, plus the new main and rod bearings
