im looking into buying a bug eye wrx for 2500, clean everything is there minus the engine. i found a EJ25 auto on craigslist for 75.00, but its from a 97 legacy n/a. he pulled the engine cause its over heating. i did some research and have come to understand that all EJ blocks will bolt up to the trans and mount to the engine mounts as well. if this is true then the engine sounds golden, but idk if i can turbo,- fuel injection. i figured id buy them both and just swing by a junk yard and pull some sti parts such as the intake, turbo, injectors, ecu, fly wheel-clutch, and other parts. has any one heard of such a swap??????
all i know on the EJ25 is that it has a 160k, its from an 2.5 gt auto. it looks like it was turbo and not carb?????? any help???? i have built multiple engines, not sti but i have done american v8s, vw 2.0, and straight 6 jeeps, also Mercedes motors. im a tech at Mercedes Benz. i know a 75 dollar motor sounds a bit off the edge. im talking about using it as the building block to an engine to drop in after i rebuild it for turbo and add performance to as well. but where my question was at, is the block compatible for the proper sensors and what not. |

Subarus are basically legos.
That said, I'm going to save you about $3,000 and probably your marriage. Pass on both. Walk away, look back on this day and say "damn, glad I listened to those guys" |

You would not want to boost a N/a 2.5. Sti swap it or put a 2.0 turbo back in it.

As someone who's never actually modded a car before (but has definitely wanted to), walk the hell away.
