Your most accurate weight is first thing in the morning (or whenever you wake up from regular deep sleep).

Little things to try and help your weight loss!

DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!
-try subsituting 2 drinks a day with water... and move up.

Try keeping a food diary.
We have a few links in this thread and the other one about mapping your excersize and food.

30min walk a day is better than no exercise
Take the dogs, kids, wife for a walk, in the evening
Please quote the list and add yourself-- If you are donating money please put a $ after your name so i can somewhat keep track.

MONEY IS NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY!

I will keep $ in my paypal if people wish to donate to the winner. PM me (sweed) and I will give you my paypal address. Please also list how much you wish to donate next to your name on the list.

Once we get a good list going, I will create a google doc.

Obviously there will be exceptions and circumstances to this.

Nice work! It's nice waking up in the morning and being able to say to yourself "thank goodness I'm not as fat as I used to be".

Just moving around is easier. feelsgoodman.jpg

Thanks... It is nice... I had to go buy smaller jeans last weekend, and the smaller ones I bought feel like maybe i should have bought ANOTHER size smaller...

The pounds have flattened out the past few weeks though... Been floating 244-248...

I was able to run/walk my first 5k in 44:40 last weekend... Not great, but I did it.. I have bad plantar fasciitis, so impact running (Non-elliptical) is tough for me..

My first goal is 240lb by April 1.. Then my next goal is 220 by August 1... But with a lot more upper body muscle.

Do yourself a favor and get a road bicycle. 3 years ago, I bought a road bike. I weighed 290lbs. Once I started riding it religiously, I dropped down to 218 in about 6 months, which is a good weight for me. I'm 6'7". I'm back up to 250 due to an injury that's since healed and working too much, but I've been riding again for the last month and feeling much better. I'm getting faster every day, but I'd be a lot faster without this 30lb meat vest, LOL.

meh... i've done bikes in the past... There is nowhere around here where I would want to ride on a daily basis... If anything, i'd want a mountain bike and do trail riding...

Good job. I find the competition keeps me honest, posting every week, and actually keeping track of the progress. Since the start of the last challenge, I am now halfway to my goal of 200lbs, so even though I won't win this competition, I'll win by hitting my target.

Yeah, when you're overweight, and you start losing weight and see the results first hand, it really puts it in perspective. And it motivates you. I've said this before and while it's not 100% accurate, it's a good approximation: go to the store and pick up a 1lb package of hot dogs. Look how big it is. Now think about having 20 or 30 or 50 of these stashed around your body. Dang. Think or how much easier it is to move and how much better you'll look with this mass removed.

I'm 5' 11" and was sitting around 208 at my heaviest. And it didn't seem that bad because I gradually got there throughout college and in my first job/living on my own. I would tell myself that I should lose 10-20 lbs, but no rush. I certainly didn't feel overweight. But I wasn't happy with my looks or my fitness level; I was in my mid 20's which should be my peak physically, and I couldn't play soccer or ride my bike worth a damn. Depressing. With my wedding as a motivator (I wanted to look good in a tux for my wife) I busted my butt to change my eating habits and drop my weight to 182 lbs. I started feeling better about my looks but my fitness wasn't there. So in the past year, I started in on that and have lost another 10 lbs. And now I'm energized to do even more.

My riding has gotten better (bicycle). My running has gotten better. Actually, I think I'm in better physical shape and look better than I did 8 years ago. Awesome.

I really enjoy these threads and seeing the hard work everyone is putting in and the results they are seeing. Heck, even if you don't lose weight, the act of weighing yourself once a week and watching your diet is nothing but a good thing.

Anyway, Round 9 should be good for us.

Still can't run, but can lift and walk a bit. Even though I dropped out of the last round, I went from 208.6 to 196.0, and I like the motivation. 170 by my birthday (late June) would feel fantastic and I have to look good in the first cute swimsuit I've ever bought!
