Default Next Generation WRX is Sedan Only – Will You Buy It?

So we've all seen the stunning new WRX concept which made its debut in New York recently:

Though there isn’t any official confirmation, much of what we’ve heard points to the new WRX hitting the dealerships here in the ‘states by summer 2014 or earlier as a 2015 model.

What some may not have heard is that SOA’s Tom Doll confirmed that the next generation WRX is going to be a 4-door sedan only.

Quote:
He also confirmed the WRX would not be produced as a hatchback this time around as “performance cars are more defined in the sedan segment”.

But due to the popularity of hot hatches in various markets around the world such as Europe and Australia, it is unclear if Mr Doll was talking in the context of his native North American market.

“For the new generation we are moving away from the five-door style,” he said. “Because performance cars are more defined in the sedan segment.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2486833

So, assuming the following regarding the next generation WRX:

- It will look a lot like that concept,
- It will meet or exceed all of your performance expectations and
- Subaru will offer no 2, 3 or 5 door versions of the WRX

Choose one of the following poll answers:

1. I’m buying this new WRX!
2. I want a 2 or 3-door, but I’m buying this new WRX anyway
3. I want a 5-door, but I’m buying this new WRX anyway
4. I will not buy this new WRX because there is no 5-door
5. I will not buy this new WRX because there is no 2 or 3-door
6. I will not buy this new WRX regardless!

There is a lot to assume, but I’m curious. Based on what you know, will you buy it but feel like you’ll be compromising? Are you planning on passing, and hoping Subaru offers something else? Do you think you’ll pass and look elsewhere altogether? Or are you throwing your money at them?

How about a "I want/need a 5 door, but may settle for 4 door, still up in the air"?

If it looks like that...yes, if it's a super toned down sedan then highly doubtful.

I started with a lot more "no" options but I wanted to keep it concise. So we need to remember that "no" will include everyone from people holding out for the STI to some guy who is content with a Prius.

Nobody is content with a Prius. Unless they are content to feel smug because they think they're more green then all the people.......notwithstanding the earth killing process of manufacturing a Lithium Ion battery pack.

I like the way it looks. 4 doors that look like a 2 door are great designs, in my opinion. The Tesla Model S is the only other car I've seen that really pulls it off well.

Can't believe you don't have an option for: "I wanted a hatch, but now I'll be getting a Ferrari FF hatchback instead"

They will have a next Generation Evolution 11. However it was said by the president of Mitsubishi will be a diesel hybrid. Want to see how that's going to pan out. But as of now, if anything, I will keep my subie, and compliment it with either a Evo X or a Evo 9

I have a WRX already... but who knows, 2015 is quite some time away. I've got 1 dollar that says they'll change their minds.

Where is the option for "I want the WRX but not as a 4-door".

Give me a 2-dr, a 3-dr, or a 5-dr. Just not a 4-dr.
