Default Painted Headlight Thoughts

I know this has been covered and I know how to do it as I have done it on antoher car before.

What I am wondering is if people have used Plasti-Dip for the paint?

Not only that but what do you think of Gunmetal grey instead of the normal black on a 13 WRB?

I have used the gunmetal plasti dip to paint the front and back WRX emblem and have an extra can of it sitting around is why I am asking and thought it might be a good idea but maybe not haha

You can't plasti-dip headlights. Plasti-dip is a rubberized coating and would cover them up.

Also if the headlights were on for an extended period of time it could melt the dip

I've read a couple places people have had no problem using plastidip with hids. Here's one for example (caution: evo content) http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-x-h...-chrome-2.html

I plan on doing this in the near future, just need to dedicate a day to do it.

Why? If you're gonna go through the hassle of cracking open your lights just use paint. Why chance having the plastidip peel or melt and having to redo the job all over again.

There is absolutely zero benefit to using plastidip over a high-heat paint. Who wants to open the headlights again when it gets f'ed up?

Gunmetal is fine, others have done it.

One he's not talking about painting the outside, he's talking about baking the headlights and separating the lense and housing to paint the plastic inside.

Two plastidip would not melt or be destroyed, even if the light was one for a long amount of time. Dip your car.com has an audi a6 or something like that and his exhaust tips are plastidipped. I will guarantee you the exhaust tip gets a hell of a lot hotter then the hids in any car. Just saying
Not trying to be a douche.
