So I'm looking to put an version 8 sti motor in my 95 gc with an 05 sti swap. Has anyone done it? I'm assuming ill just install the dbw throttle body, crank sensor, cam sensors and turn off the tgv codes. Any thoughts?

I'm a little confused but if you're swapping an STi motor and not using the AVCS you leaving alot on the table.

IIRC the JDM cams won't work with USDM sensors, so you'll have to swap over the cams as well.

Yeah, there's a lot more to it because the AVCS solenoids and sensors are different.

You need a v10+ engine, but then plug the exhaust AVCS holes. It's more similar to the STi wiring. It's still not as straightforward as a ver7 or ver8 into an 02-05 WRX.

Why not just run the ej257? It makes a ton more torque and has better power potential.

Its no big deal, swap over throttle body, cams, cam sensors and you are ready to rock. You do not need a V10 swap to make it work.

The 257 intake cams paired with the 207 exhaust cams is a great combo for spoolup and torque. I have tuned a few of these and they have great performance.

You want to use the JDM solenoids so you can run +40 of AVCS advance, the USDM ones will limit you to ~30 of advance

Look at Ken's build thread for a nice description of how to do the sensor and TB swap, bottom of page 17 is where it starts
