Default Cable speedo VSS compatible with WRX VSS signal?

So despite the fact that my hybrid swapped OBS goes like hell, my lack of a VSS signal to the ECU means a fuel cut between 5-5.5k rpm. No bueno.

My car is a 97 with the cable driven speedo. The cluster has a vss that sends a signal to the ECU/Cruise/TCU in the stock configuration. Just wondering if it's within reason that if I tap that output, and run it to the WRX ECU input, that it may work. Would love to know if someone has already done it so I can avoid installing a 3 wire VSS and losing my speedo.

I don't have an oscilloscope available to track waveform output and see if they're the same, but being how "Lego" Subarus tend to be, I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same as the 3 wire.

It will work. Just tap the VSS wire going from the cluster to the ecu. This is how the VSS works with the cable driven clusters.

Yeah, I figured as much. I'll tap it later and make sure the car is happy. Fuel cut that early is really harshing my groove.

EDIT: Thanks for confirming though. Can't get a straight answer on rs25.
