Smile PLZ HELP: Best Place in SF Area to Get Digital Pics Made Into Photos?

Hi all,

I thought I'd post this in BAIC, since I gather that a few of you are photography & digital camera buffs.

My g-friend has decided to put together a photo album to pass around at her family's Xmas gathering, so she's asked me to help her get a bunch (almost 200) digital pics converted/developed/?--(not sure of correct, digicam terminology). They are stored on a COMPACT FLASH Memory card.

I have no idea where to have this done. To my surpise, digital pic processing isn't a commonly offered service. The places I frequent for regular film processing, like CostCo, Walgreen's, etc don't do it.

I did go to RITZ Camera in the Stonestown Galleria near SF State, but they wanted $0.49/print. Actually, the price isn't really the issue. The prints they produce are on flimsy photo paper that curls up easily and looks like it can tear just as much ease. The RITZ store clerk said that some places do offer digital photo processing on sturdier photo paper like regular film prints, but the guy couldn't recommend a place!

Anyways, can someone recommend a good place in the SF Area that processes digiprints onto "sturdy" photo paper, similar to regular film prints?

Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

CL

I've had fantastic results from www.ofoto.com
It isn't local, but it is reasonably priced and the results are better than I expected.
You're going to have to get those images from the flash memory to your hard drive, though...

dude, WALMART has it for $0.27 per print on fujifilm paper. i've had soem digital photos developed there and it looks good. the cool thing is that you just go to their website, upload the photos, choose the store where you wanna pick it up from, and they will call you when the photos are developed and ready for pickup.

it's cheap, easy, and looks good. that's a winner in my book!

www.snapfish.com offers free regular processing - they send me a return envelope, I put my film in, and they send me prints for free - as long as I got to the website to look at my portfolio so they can show me some advertising. You could check there to see if there's digital film processing

we use shutterfly good quality paper. you can also go down to wolfe's camera and they have a printer, tho the paper is better at shutterfly.

I just used this service to print out about 300 pictures for friends and families. The have simple but limited online editing and we received our photos in about 3 days or less!!! They use Kodak paper and you can make enlargements and multiple copies. Just make sure your file is edited the way you really want it. Some of our pics were a little dark.

Overall, quick easy service, yeah .49 per picture was steep but you pay the price for convenience.

I use a printer.

Looks surprisingly good too.

(HP printer with photocard slots, dont even need to turn on the computer for it... Using glossy photo paper of course)
