Crab restaurant in SF

Hoping someone knows the restaurant, I thought people mentioned it on here before.

Anyway, I think it's a Chinese or Vietnamese type of restaurant where the crab is especially good, in SF. My friend, who is out of the country right now, has mentioned this place. We're heading out for dinner Friday night.

Any ideas... I know Chinese/Vietnamese place that serve crab in the city...hmmm.......

theres also a place on 46th and judah, i think the place is owned by the same family as crustaceans. its called thang lahng or something like that, its off the hook, packed every night, make ur reservation i think... if thats possible, it was opened before crustaceans, bring your wallets!!!

what kind of damage are we talking about here, either place. The works, starters, drinks, entree etc.

Thanh Long is pretty good. If I remember correctly the crab runs about $25. They are also known for their garlic noodles. Make sure you order the secret kitchen crab. I think you can make the other ones at home.

Iirc, the roast crab is seasonally priced. The times I went there, it was between $28-32, and is enough for 2, but that depends on how much you eat. 1 roast crab and 2 portions of garlic noodle (~US$8-10 each) plus one appetizer is usually more than enough for 2 persons, imho. Appetizers run from US$8 to 20(?) I think.

Like others said, Crustacean and Thanh Long are related, Thanh Long being established earlier. The SF Crustacean and Thanh Long seem to have very similar menu, with slight difference in price. The Crustacean in Beverly Hills though, is a different story.

It's obvious, but make sure you get reservations and arrive on time. They could bump you to a later time slot if you arrive late to accomodate for the people waiting in line.

Thanh Long has the best crab i have ever eaten in my life. i finished a whole roast crab on my own, w/ about 1/2 a plate of garlic noodles, and i remember paying $35 for the crab itself. i find it really odd how its a super nice restaurant in the middle of residential sunset.

USE THE BIB!

i think crustaceans and thanh long are way over priced for some steam/bake crabs. last i went we paid about $32 per crab. PER CRAB!!!

go to ANY chinese restaurant and you can buy three of them for the same price.

well, if you like seafood, you can always go to KOI palace in daly city. it's also expensive...but way better. =P
