Thumbs up Air filter fact for new WRX

The measured size of the new WRX air filter is exactly the same size as my '98. I think I'll be saving my Amsoil filter for the new car.

Happy saving for me

They've all been the same for a while now. I have the K&N panel from my deceased SVX in my wife's Outback sport.

The older MAF models and NEw WRX, with a filter in an airbox at the fender, use an AMSOIL TS-74 (SVX, Impreza, Legacy).

For the airbox at the rear of the engine they use an S1992 special order filter.

ImprezaRS.com, you mentioned the "airbox at the back of the engine"...Are you referring to the filter for the interior venting (heat/ac, etc) system?

what Larry is talking about is what MY00-01 RS's (don't know what other models have the same config) use. They have a filter in an airbox that is right before the throttle body and not at the fender.

They've gone back to the same size the WRXes and other Imprezas have always used, now that the MAF sensor thing has been sorted out. I don't know if the CA WRXes have any different configuration than the other 49 states, but I'd imagine not.

Right - and the S1992 for the MY00/01 is being re-numbered TS129 and will not be special order after about 4-6 weeks from now.

The TS74 is the one for the older MAF cars, SVX, and the new WRX.
