well,i didnt quite make it home in time to order my stromung exhaust but I will get it done monday.I have done alot of searching on the board and the net as well and have really seen alot of posts on this system,I'm guessing that all of you who has this exhaust are very pleased so take in mind that all of your remarks on how nice it is has really influenced my choice.I really really hope this system is as good as it seems.I'm thinking of going with either Teague's Auto, since he is here in north carolina,or directly through stromung what are your thoughts? Who is the best to deal with? Anyway, can't wait to get it on my rs.

Are you getting the mid-pipe to go with it? I heard that it makes a difference in in sound level in the cabin. Nice to see some folks doing a little research before posting.

Just recieved my Stromung dual-tip today
Too bad I can't put it on until Monday Really looking forward to it, as everyone has spoken so highly of it. No mid-pipe, didn't seem like it was worth that much money. |

The midpipe doesn't make things any louder, but it helps to increase flow & it makes the tone deeper (bigger pipe diameter=lower tone).

huey - No, stromung midpipe does not bring a resonator.
P.S. I'm waiting on my SS dual tip stromung to arrive, so I can install the midpipe. ![]() -Vic |

This is a little OT but does anyone know the diameter of the stock exhaust tip? And what are the diameters of the tips on the stromung ones? bot the dual and the single? just for reference.

I almost forgot: i bring that up because, like the origional post, I want to buy the stromung set-up (muffler and midpipe) based upon the high marks it recieves here. It's just that the tips on the dual exhaust look a little smaller than my liking... so i want to be able to compare them to the stock.

I think the stock tip was almost 3-1/4in and the Stromung duals are a little less than 3 inches each. I've heard that the muffler is equivalent to the flow of a single 4 inch tip. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I don't know the diameter of the stock tips, but the Stromung dual tips are 76mm each (3") and the single tip is 89mm (3.5"). That means the dual tip has 14.14 sq.inches of outlet area while the single tip has 9.62 sq. inches of outlet area. A single 4" outlet has 12.56 sq. inches of area. Remember the calculation is only valid for the true outlet diameter, not the shroud at the tip end, which can be considerably larger.
I am planning to buy the dual tip in stainless with the midpipe as I've heard it moderates the sound in the passenger cabin. Either case, it's a sweet sounding exhaust. ![]() [This message has been edited by Ginseng (edited February 17, 2001).] |

rools:: The dual tip and midpipe are awesome...The sound is kickin ...I put both the midpipe and muffler on at the same time, and I don't think it reverberates in the cabin too much at all. It gets slightly boomy just under 3K rpm, but it goes away quickly. I also really like the dual tip design. It was worth it ![]() |

Just got back from my first drive with my Stromung dual-tip on. Wow!
I love the sound! Does kinda reverberate in the cabin, makes the dash vibrate at about 4k rpm, but nothing terrible. Gonna see how it is after a week or so, and then I might consider the midpipe. Can't wait till I can get some numbers from my G-Tech and see what kind of improvements it makes. |

I also got the SS Dual Tip Stromung. Hopefully it should be in soon. Having some troubles getting my order moving. But I think I have that taken care of thanks to Faraz. TRi tuning has great prices. I got the SS Dual Tip Stromung shipped for $405 which I thought was pretty damn good. I have the Ganzflow Cold Air intake and K&N air filter already. I am pretty sure I will be happy as can be once my muffler comes in. Ordering a SS Stromung Midpipe next Monday. Then I hope to get headers after that. Does anyone else have this setup? Ganzflow Cold Air Intake, K&N Air Filter, SS Dual Tip Stromung Muffler, SS Stromung Midpipe, and Borla Gen II headers? I am curious as to the noise level of all these working together. Its my car...but my wife drives it alot. She is one of those chicks who digs cars. But I dunno if she will like it if its REALLY loud. Any comments? Also...would someone who is better knowledged than me run a number by me as to the horse power I will have after I get all this done? And any recommendations on upgrades for more HP without voiding my warranty? Thanks

I might just buy the SS dual tip w/midpipe and install it without telling my gf. She isn't a car person at all and she doesn't like "pimpy" cars... my RS stock was almost too much for her.
![]() But if I do stuff without her noticing it's like I didn't do it right? And it's better to tell her once it's already installed and used, so I "can't" send it back. ![]() (for a frame of reference she didn't really notice that I installed a platinum colored cd player in her Jetta until she went to turn it on)(oh, and I'm pretty sure she's the one, so I'm not trading her in on a new model.) |
