Unhappy problem with a slipping clutch

Lately, whenever I'm doing 40 plus and decide to hit the gas, my rpms just shoot through the roof but nothing gets to the wheels. It feels as if the clutch is just spinning helplessly. I love my my98 OBS, but this is really bugging me.
Help,

Cool

Last week same thing was happening to me, got very freaked out about me needing a new clutch, but it turned out that it wasn't a slipping clutch, only a wet one. Didn't use the car for 3 days, and had it washed...water must have gotten in there. Went away the next day, so no new clutch for now, thank god!
Hopefully yours will be the same, if not, sorry, new clutch in order!
