Default Aftermarket Lighting options

Hey All,
For improved aftermarket lighting, which would be the best alternative: an HID kid in the stockers, a set of STi headlights (non-HID), or a set of non-HID UK300s? Anyone know if there is a difference in light output of the STi's and the UK300s?

Search for posts by gtguy. He has seen the UK300s (H7 bulb) and the non-HID STi projectors (H1 bulb) side by side. If memory serves he found the UK300s to be brighter.

I have the STi projectors and have been pleased with the light output, so long as they aren't covered in nasty winter road grime. I'm also going to be putting in a pair of Philips VisionPlus bulbs on the recommendation of others to see if I like them.

The UK300's are excellent lights. They use Hella globes. A great option is a pair of Cibie driving lights to replace the factory fogs.

The best source you will find anywhere on lighting is Daniel Stern

http://lighting.mbz.org

Sent him an e-mail he can give you all kinds of options.

FWIW he wrote an article that included information on aftermarket HID kits. To sumarize his findings, after market HID's cause huge glare problems for other drivers because the optic requirements for a halogen and hid lighting source are very different. When you stick a HID source into a globe designed for a halogen bulb the beam pattern may work nicely for the driver but you are likely blinding other road users!!!
