Arrow Who Went to Sears Pt. (INFINEON) Yesterday?--Buddy Blew Up His Type R!?

Hey all,

Just wondering who else went dragging at Sears Pt. (INFINEON Raceway) yesterday. I couldn't go--had b-ball practice, but my buddy went. He blew up his built TYPE R motor after a 13.5 run (blew up on the return road NOT on the track...but, what's the difference?!) Pretty good time though. He was on slicks, but that's quicker than 80% of the WRX's on the road. He'll probably wipe my butt too if I ever get the nerve to bring my WRX out there.

Btw, he said most of the WRX's were running 14's--a couple in the 14 flat range and a couple "older body style Subarus," incl a black one---Adam/I-Speed?

Well, if anyone ran or was spectating, please post some WRX/Subaru highlights. I'd ask my buddy for more 411, but he's kinda bummed about blowing his motor...wanted to attend a Type R meet/run in Napa this Sat!

Peace

CL

I was there yesterday. And it was one of my worst days at the track. Couldn't get my lauches down. Had problems with CEL's all day long. I was the one running 14 flats all day long. Couldn't even get into the 13's. I was trying to better my best time of 13.6 . I was pretty disappointed.

Was your buddies Type-R black? If so I think I saw it on the side of the return road broke down.

Yesterday sucked.

And yes the black RS GC8 was Adam.

Kurlee,

Sorry that you had a rotten time/performance. Sears Pt. has always been a good track for me--haven't brought my WRX out there or any track yet, but my old Integra used to do pretty well @ Sears.

Btw, my buddy's Type R is a CW one (Championship White). It's lowered, on stock wheels, w/out a wing--took it off. He was hoping for 13 flat on slicks. He has bad luck w/motors though...went through a few on his old 90 Integra and now a couple on his Type R. I dunno what it is...he gets top quality parts--JUN, ERIK's Racing, Comptech & workmanship---Comptech, Importbuilders, etc. I feel sorry for him...he's a nice guy too!

Oh well, any other updates/highlights?---non WRX's/Subarus?----Supras, RX-7's, etc?

Peace

CL

I wish I was there. I would have shown him what a WRX can do. I think it's go for next week. BTW, how many people were there?

Adam , Andrew and I were there.
Adam ran a 13.3, Andrew ran a 13.1 (burning out all fours off the line), I ran a miserable 14.6 with a 2.5 sixty-footer and .9 R/A! Whatever no excuses for my sorry arse drag racing skills

I saw the white integra with his hazards on. he wasn't looking tooo happy

Hey Chris,

Congrats to Adam and Andrew--who is he though?--I-Speed too? I guess my buddy missed those runs, since he blew his Type R on his first run. You're right though, he wasn't too happy.

I really feel for my buddy, but I'm beginning to think it's driver error or SOMETHING that's contributing to his blown motor woes. I've known/raced w/him for years (street racing in N. Cal back in the day & Laguna Seca, Sears Pt, SAC Raceway, Palmdale, & Famoso in Bakersfield), and he's a decent enough shifter & driver through the twisties, but I'm thinking he isn't too conscious of his tach and/or keeping track of his revs. It's gotta be something because as mentioned, he always has top quality parts & work under the hoods of his rides. Oh well, 13.5 is pretty decent for a NA, 1.8L w/FULL interior/exterior...even if it was on slicks. He just tore down the motor today and looks like the head, valvetrain, & block are toast. Guess it'll give him an opportunity to try out some new goodies he's been looking at though.

Peace

CL

Btw, Chris, if you need a hired gun/pilot, lemme know...My dragging skills are pretty darn good if I do say so myself (been told that as well & have about 8 bracket racing trophies to boot)! I'm always more than willing to let loose on a car/tranny that's not my own!

Andrew just had a conversion completed on his car. He was running a vf35, injectors, pully, ecutek...and mudd & snow tires
That was his first time at the track.
