Default Lifted Outbacks?

Anyone out there know of anyone who's lifted an outback or made it more off-road worthy? I'd love to see some modded OBs come to a Pine Barrens run with us. We have a few regular OBs come, but none lifted yet.

My '97 has a 2" lift, front /rear skid plates, LSD Rear diff, ACT Clutch w/ lightened flywheel, and lots of other goodies. In the winter I run 215/75/15s (same size as a Jeep/toyota PU) in summer, 225/60/16s for better handling. With the taller tires, there's about 10-11" of clearance under the diff... A dual range tranny would round out the package nicely...

Have definately taken it in spots only Jeeps can go...

Too bad you guys are so far away...

What offset rims are you using for this setup? Have a customer wanting to do this but I am wondering if there are any rubbing issues.

On the 15"s (215/75/r15) I was running stock '94 Legacy turbo wheels which have the same offset as a stock '97 OB wheel. On the 16"s, not quite sure what the offset was, probably between 40 and 53mm, as they cleared with no issues.

Hope that helps..

Actually have the car in at the moment (from the new owner) getting ready for an STi shortblock and cometic headgaskets.

That's pretty close... The color is the same, mine's a 97, that's a '98. The main difference is that on has the body lift too, mine doesn't. Also, both of my wheel/tire set ups are different too (bigger). That's the car on the ISR web site, isn't it?

ISR is where my parts came from for the lift, very good outfit to deal with.

I'll take my digi home this weekend and snap some pics...

Ya, that is off ISR web site.

I wish I could put a lift on my OB. I am spending most of my time on my 93 Loyale.

I just recently got my OB stuck in a ditch and i bet anything i would have gotten out if 3 wheels were turning instead of 2. How did you go about finding your LSD??? Junkyard? I definetely do not want to spend the $800 something that isr is selling them for. Thanks!

Rally Stuff lift in progress!

I'm half way there! I lifted the back with King springs Ksrr-29's about 40min r/r. before height at factory diffguard was 7 7/8" after was 9 3/4" ! Nice springs too beefy! 25% stiffer & nice yellow color! I have a raked look for now and the handling is much tighter! I'l post pics when done.

I'll get the fronts(KSFR-32) done soon and an alignment as well and full road /offroad test.

You can get a used one from a parts yard from a 00-01 RS w/ axles for less than $400 usually. Other rear LSDs are out of 00 up Outbacks with cold weather pkg or Ltds, H-6s, LL beans, VDCs, or 00 up Foresters w/ cold weather (S, S premium, XS, XT). Make sure that the gear ratios are the same. If your car is manual, you have 4:11s which are pretty easy to find. Autos have 4:44s for the most part. Hope this helps...

Halfway there.. what happened a half rack?? You'll notice a nice difference off road when you get the fronts on. King makes a good product for sure.

Rally Stuff update on lift

I ran outta time to do the front(family) . So last night I started on the front. I took one strut/spring apart only to find the spring retainer was larger in dia. than the King spring.........Doh!

So today I went to the dealer parts and we found a forester spring retainer/rubber seat(on order) so hopefully tommorrow night I'm fully lifted!!
