Default 225/45 17 on 2000 RS? Need help quickly.

I was told from a fellow nasioc'er that 225/45 17's would be a great fit to my 2000 RS.

I want to put those on my new 17' Rota SDR's, I ordered the tires from tire rack:

Pirelli PZERO NERO (summer) 225/45/ 17

and the sales guy called me and said they are too wide.

Can someone clear this up for me?

Cheers

Will

Yes, they might not fit. 215's will fit, but sometimes have rubbing issues on a 17x7.5 wheel if the car is really lowered.

To fit 225's on a 17x7.5 et48 wheel, you'll need to roll the fenders most likely. If the car is lowered, you'll definitely have issues.

I just put 215/45/17 Yoko ES100's on some Rota Tarmacs(17x7.5 et48). Mine fit without rubbing, but are a close call. I'm going to have to be careful about suspension choices, now.
