Default temp sen assy. (temperature sensor assembly?)

Ive been having a few minor problems with various areas of my 00 RS. One is the electric fans are always on and the temp guage is always at ice cold. I talked to several people and decided to replace the sensor. I have the part in my hand and I cant figure out where it goes. I know its in back under intake manifold but I just dont see it. Can somebody please explain where it is at...

Behind the alternator, under the intake manifold, in an aluminum coolant runnner than runs over the top of the block.

Default Thanks

Thanks, I still dont see it but I am going to remove the alternator and I will probably see it then. Can you take the sensor out without removing the manifold?

Yes, you can get to it easily enough with the alternator off.

You'll probably want to drain some coolant to avoid spilling it. There's a petcock at the bottom passenger side of the radiator to drain coolant. I'd say you only need to drain a quart or so - the coolant temp sensor is nearly the highest point in the system.
