Default XT manuals are now available.

I've been checking for days. They are now up for PDF download with a subscription of $19 for 72 hours.

Thanks for the heads up. I got the whole manual. I have to give some detail on how the downloading works for anyone interested.

I thought it would be something like one big PDF that's properly indexed. It's not. There are links to sections such as Wiring, Body Section etc. In those sections there are further links broken down into more sections. In those sections there are PDF's with the name of the info such as "airbag system" which is further broken down to the individual components. The problem is when you download the PDF it has a file name w/ something like: MSA5T0425A39349.pdf. Since there was so much I didn't rename each file, but I did put it in a system that I can at least be in the proper place. Brakes HVAC etc. Unless you are careful to save in a good filing system setup it's gonna be very hard to use the information easily. Many of the sections only have one or two PDF, but some have up to 30 like the wiring diagram section. For the price it's hard to beat.

Don't bother unless you have broadband, there is a lot of downloading and the server itself isn't all that quick. It took me a while. I got the Forester an wanted to get my OB VDC too but I don't know if I have the patience

Several weeks ago I previously purchased the complete 2003 X/XS manual-on-CD via eBay (assuming that neary everything except the engine would be the same or similar to my XT, thus being useful enough to justify the $7 price I paid). The organization (or lackof) that you're describing is the same as what I found on that CD. It would be greatly improved with live index - look up item of interest (horn, for example) and be taken directly to the applicable .pdf.

I'm renaming my files. I'm about halfway through. I've done General Information,
Engine, Wiring and Mechanism and Function. If someone wants to help with a section, I'd be glad to swap the ones I've already done. It's a great way to waste some time, put on some tunes, crack open a cold one and start typing.

Anyone notice these file seems bad msa5t0422a3890 and 425a39234, only 4kb's ?. Also there seems to be some duplicates. For instance in the Body Section there are two Cruise Control System Diagnostics. Files 39349-39355 seem to be similar content as 39357-39364. The file sizes vary but the content appears to be similar.

Pete,

I burned your CD today. It'll be in Monday's mail. It probably won't give you anything useful that you haven't already downloaded, but you're welcome to it.

However, DON'T miss playing the 19-megabite file contained in the root directory. It's a Windows Media video/audio clip entitled "WRC_HIGH.WMV". Very entertaining, or at least I thought so.

Do you have a DVD drive on your PC? I have a ton of Top Gear vids and other car realted stuff but it's over 2 Gig

Peaty asks, "Do you have a DVD drive on your PC? I have a ton of Top Gear vids and other car realted stuff but it's over 2 Gig "

No. However, my creaky PC is on its last legs, so its future replacement (sometime this summer) will no doubt have DVD. Maybe even a DVD burner, if I'm lucky.

The WRC video didn't appear to be of any one place. It shows driving in deserts, snow, hillclimbs, and a wide variety of other venues. Does that sound like what you've seen?
