You'll get the "you don't have permission" page if it was deleted by the mods.

And no, they don't jut randomly delete threads. I am sure there was a reason.

Loki, I think you posted in the thread in question. The surgery photolog one... Is it just me or is it no longer in existence? I don't have a problem with it being deleted, just curious if there is a way to find out why, etc. (if in fact it did disappear - have searched, can't find...).

I didn't post in the surgury thread, at least not that I remember.

What probably happened is that they got a complaint about it. Someone clicked the 'report this post to a moderator' because something offended them or something. They take the reports here pretty seriously. It normally only takes one complaint to get a post deleted.

That makes sense. Ok, no problem. I've seen worst posted and stay live but I understand about keeping the peace and all that. Just wondered if it was possible to find out why or whatever, like if the deleting mod sent a PM or something; I guess not.

That part hardly ever happens. BTW...they tend to lock threads inquiring about deleted threads. It's true. Watch.

You can usually tell a post gets deleted...

when it's GONE!
