Default changing Sti gauge cluster color

I know many people have been putting on red bulb condoms for the hvac controls but there still isn't too many decent stereo's that have red lighting and it is going to look just as retarded having that green/blue stereo with the hvac red...so has anyone tried to change the color of the cluster?...asside from the badass red needles, which would remain, i wondered if the rest was just red bulb condoms that could be swapped for green ones...anyone looked yet?

The main gauge cluster is going to be difficult to alter. I think the illumination is electroluminescent, and frankly, I'm not even sure how it works.

I bought a Clarion head unit that has about a zillion possible illumination colors. So, it matches my red hvac and main gauges. Next up, I need to get rid of the green clock!

Same here,
Changed my HVAC lighting and the ring aroung my ignition to red and installed a Clarion DXZ 835 which has 728 possible color combos. I have a cool red colr set for daily driving nad when I am feeling "extra STI" I change it to Vivid Pink.

Hey CincySTI, where did you buy your car? I got mine down there from Beechmont.....

STIffy,

I bought mine in Dayton. I would have liked to buy from Beechmont since I live within 2 miles of them, but they were not being very resonable about the price when I tried to deal with them.

I have the Clarion DXZ835 too. I'll have to try "Vivid Pink" out for a while!

the STi gauge cluster is made off LED's so changing the color would require a highly skilled person to solder in LED of a different color.

I think NS (nippon seiki) or another highly regarded co. should make an aftermarket cluster for the STi, similar to it, but with those new LED's that support several colors, that way you can change between RED, GREEN, BLUE, YELLOW at your will. But, this look like just a dream.

You'll have better luck & spend less time (which is money) toward revising/replacing your radio than changine the illumination color of the gauges.

But like most everything in life, anything is possible and I'm sure someone will do it.

I got the bulb covers from parts express (www.partsexpress.com). There is a thread around here somewhere with a link right to the product page. They are really cheap, but shipping is like $5 or $6.

You might be able to get them from Radio Shack, too.
