Default 2003 lights

Anybody know if the projecter driving lights from the 2003 Legacy GT would be a direct fit in a 2001 Legacy Gt, the opening inthe bumper skin looks to be the same, I would like to replace mine with projecters, would like to hear if anyone has done this mod.

Default Lights

Legacy Gt has had projecter beam driving lights since 2002.

Monovich on just looking at the 2003 light mounting visually the projecter is mounted in a black surround that looks a lot like the shape of the 2001 driving light, it looks a lot like it would fit I would still like to hear if anyone has actually tried it.

The headlamps are the same it is the projecter beam driving lamps below the headlamps that is the point of the discussion.

Ahhhh. In that case I do not know. The bumper skin was changed significantly for 03, dont know if the mounts or openings are different enough to be a prob.

Default They are different

Don't your 2001 lights turn UP at the ends instead of down? Unless they changed in 2001, they should be the same shape as my 2000's right?

If that is the case, then I dont think they will fit. Were you thinking of flipping them vertically?

Default 2000Gt

Thanks, there it is definitively, they are different, maybe they could be switched but I don't think so, the general shape is the same though reversed I do not think they would be aimed properly if installed upside down. thanks again for taking the trouble.

You would need the 2003-2004 bumper skin - they are quite cheap.

and then the fogs.

So the bumper mounts for the lights are in the same place?

Default Bumper skin

Yeah I know I could go that route but I did not really want to change my bumper skin, if it would have been a straight swap of the lights ok. but I will pass on changing out the bumper I actually prefer mine to the 2003.

And yep S.S. the light mounts are in the same place.

he said driving lights, but he meant fog lights. But of course we all know that the fog lights don't do anything in the fog. they are cosmetic and only for bling.

Default Lights

To clear up any confusion, I am origionally from Ireland, and fog lights have yellow lenses, and driving lights have clear lenses hence my terminology.

Oh, and I find the projectors in my 2003 to be MUCH brighter than the ones in my 2000.

And I dig the JDM look.
