Just curbed one wheel; Help!

Anyone in NJ can vouch for me and say that this morning was terrible weather. I pulled up into a gas station that wasn't well lit this morning in heavy rain, and BAMM, scraped the right front wheel. It's not that bad of a scratch, still in angst though
I need some suggestions please. Should I just get the rim refinished, get all refinished in anthracite(heheh would look killer w/ my Silverthorn paint job), or any other suggestions. Also, any place you guys recommend I take my car to? Thanks

I've gotten a quote for $120.00 per wheel for fixing scrapes and refinishing and $100.00 per wheel just to refinish. This was a place here in the Detroit area, but this might give you an idea of what you should expect to pay. Check you yellow pages under wheels and see if you can find a wheel refinishing place locally, you might even want to ask some car dealers since they use those places all the time. Hope this helps.

Don;t feel too bad, my best friend ran his Sube into a curb a few weeks ago... but he had Oz Superturismo's and had to order one from overseas. The stock wheels are powder coated right? If you get them re-painted not re-powdercoated be prepared for the paint to come off in a year or so... nothing is as good as powdercoating. At least that's my experience with wheels (and I have worked in a collision repair shop in NY for 10 years or so).

I would but it was already posted. I know of a place around here that refinishes them for $125, but for that price I should be able to get the same wheels used. *shrug*

This will not be the last time you scratch your rims. $125 per curb scrape IMHO this is a losing proposition. The first ding is always the hardest, then you get used to it. Save wheel refinishing for the $125,000 Concourse Ferraris.

If you are really concerned, smooth out the scrape with a dremel or sand by hand and retouch with model paint for 3$.

PS I felt like cr4p the fist time I kissed the curb with my RS(first new car).

I also agree with boxerman, I cubed my first rim when I was parking, I was so pissed I started cursing at the curb and kicking it, I wanted to go buy a new rim right away, but after the second, third and fourth time I scratched my rims I said forget that. Its something you have to deal with. For me I have an excuse 3 out 4 of my rims are scratshed, worst are the right sides cause I have to park so close to the curb at work so buses dont take off my mirror, every now and then I meet curb. I want to cry every time.

These last two posts are correct. You can make the wheel look somewhat better with a file and wheel touch up paint. We've all been thru this

My first was in the rain and I came around a corner kinda slideways and it was either bump the car to my left or scrape the curb on the right. Obvious when you look at it in those terms but I was still pissed. After that I've gone around some traffic on a under construction shoulder and missed seeing a curb form and (hard to explain) I scratched the insides of my two right side wheels. All but one of mine are scratched... I just feel fortunate that metal color matches the wheel instead of those 98 gold rims.
