Default ECU Modifications for H6

I am currently getting around with a 3" cold air intake and custom exhust 2.5" from the heads back - got rid of the excess cats etc. On the dyno this is giving around 20Kw extra at flywheel. Has anyone managed to find someone to hack the ECU - yes I know that the VDC is a big pain - but I feel that this engine is wanting to give more and needs a tweak.

Don't you just hate the VDC. Thats why I'm getting the base spec new H6 as it doesn't have the VDC.

Hey, StuartC, I've just noticed that you've got a pearl white H6 like me and you're in Sydney too. What a coincidence. As I just posted I'm getting the new spec H6 and I can't wait. It's a beauty.

Love the VDC and what it can do in the wet/mud etc. Getting inside the ECU is the pain. What colour is the new H6?

what kind of cold air intake and exhaust do you have, and how do you like them. I want to do something like that to my H6 but its really hard to find parts and info about modifying these cars.

StuartC,

I'm getting another metallic white H6 (Subaru call it arctic white), although the new version is white not the creamy white of the last model.

Answer to Black H6:
The cold air intake I built myself, basically it is 3 " mandrel bend mild steel tube running from the air resivoir at the back of the engine and out thru the hole in the RHS gaurd. Inside the gaurd I have a K&N cone filter mounted up high to avoid water. You get a fair amount of intake noise but the benifits are worth it. The exhust was a trial and error thing - man these H6 engines are noisey. I have 2.5" mandrel bend stainless running from the heads back to a Y junction at the rear of the engine. To reduce noise I had to put in a balance pipe about 12" back from the heads. Behind the the Y junction I am running a single Hi-Flow 2.5" Cat then a 24" x 4" resonator. Thru to the back in 2.5" and a single 14" straight thru muffler with a 4" tip. The best part of doing this is that it has moved the whole power curve and I am getting a big benefit below 3000rpm. Will try and post some pics late on.
