If you do anything to your car its rice!
Hell if you keep the stock rs wing on (the big one) that would be rice! Just kidding just making fun of the people that call everything and they're mother rice. They tend to annoy me Actually rice is like a Honda driver with a 1.3 or whatever engine probally making 85 wheel horsepower non vtec engine yet has a vtec sticker and runs oversized 18" wheels and a 3" straight through exhaust and is sensless things to make the car look fast and/or sound fast when most of the mods will probally slowthe car down. Anyone wanna add or post some good examples. Oh wait justwatch an import car show on speed vision talk about Uncle Ben's !

Yup, I agree with Michigan here, good deifnition. And don't forget to add all those ricers that have way out of proportioned body panels that are still in primer color! My faves are those guys that mod the hell out of their Civic and get a "whopping" 140hp! OK, well maybe 140 isn't so bad, but when it all goes to the front wheels??!!??

Sniff, sniff...smells like rice. Late-model Prelude, fully slammed (we're talkin' DTM-style fender/wheel overlap), with stock sized fronts and plus-two rears, and big-a** exhaust tip that was LOUD, but in that buzzy, annoying way.

Then, I saw another one later, in Evanston, again plus-two with the big slam, and an even louder exhaust with a tip that could have housed a family of squirrels.

Now, I don't believe in dissing a particular car brand or type, because I'm sure there are some riced-up Scoobies out there. To each his own. But it does make one feel smug to know that most of us are all go, precious little show.

Well, Bryan's Rice Boy Page is now owned by Overboost.com, one of the premier promoter's of what could be termed rice. Talk about irony. Then again, at least it's on a fast server and it doesn't crash all the time like it did when it was hosted on cape.ucsd.edu

sspriest,
"Rice" means to add mods (mostly body) to your car AND thinking that these mods actually make the car more fast than it really is. Sad to say, there is A LOT of rice in the Subaru world. Take a look in some of the forums and you'll see a lot of the following questions:
1. "What exhaust is best (so I can make a lot of noise and draw attention to myself even though I don't have a turbo)?
2. "Where can I get WRX/STi stickers (even though my car is not a WRX and doesn't come close to matching WRX performance)?
3. "Where can I buy clear corners/taillights/sidemarkers (even though they don't really add anything to the car's performance)?
4. "Can I paint my brake calipers (so I can draw attention to my crappy brakes)?
5. "Is it hard to install racing harnesses (even though I don't go fast enough to require a racing harness)?

Yeah, yeah. I know people (mostly ricers) will say "It's my car and I'll do what I want". Fine, well look at the other rice-boys. A few of them riced-out their Hondas and now what? We bash most Honda owners on this board although most of them are not ricers and they're probably pretty decent people. Do we want people to have a low opinion of Subarus and their owners? Of course not. We all want to be respected and admired. Ricing-out our cars is definitely not the way. sspriest, I'm assuming you haven't been bitten by the rice-bug yet. Always remember, performance first.

Well said, Dead Eye. Every mod that I've done, I've kept the original parts in case the upgrade wasn't to my liking, up to and including the downright hideous (I suppose sitting underneath a car for 3.5 years would make YOU ugly too) stock muffler, in case the Stromung wasn't in fact an improvement.

Hey dead_eye .. if you do the DIY clear corner, by removing the orange film from inside the lights, you are lowering the car's overall weight and improving performance! HAHAHAH

I some-what agree, you're being rice your self if you put the "WRX" sticker there, that's just as bad as someone with a LS integra and the "Type-R" stickers.

Its not the stickers, spoilers, ground effects, clear tail lights, and lowering thats makes Rice...

...Its when theres all that bark, but no bite (IE no "real" performance mods)

subyej25,
There's nothing wrong with the clear stuff. I like the look myself (after some more performance mods this summer, I'll be buying a set of clear corners) I just don't understand why people would spend a lot of money on that stuff before buying decent performance mods. What's the point of drawing attention to a slow car?
