Currently I have a dyno-tuned map by the guys at TurboXs for my setup using the stock airbox and Sti 550cc injectors. I am planning on doing the "injector mod" to bump the Sti's up to 740cc as well as adding a short ram intake.
I'm a newb when it comes to the UTEC even though I've had it a year or so. I just havent had the time to mess with it nor had the need since I was dyno tuned. Problem is, with the addition of the 740cc and the intake I will need another tune. I will have access to a wide-band and EGT gauge and some flat clear roads to tune on but I need some insight as to the tuning portion. Can anyone tell me some pointers as far as where to start once I install the injectors and intake? I'm assuming the intake will help lean the extra fuel out somewhat but I am worried about having too much fuel on idle and the midrange. Sorry for the newb question but I'd rather hurt my pride alittle than have a crappy running car. Thanks guys! Jim |

You will have WAAAAY to much fuel at idle.. I would start first with the 0 load to get your idle down and so your fuel trims will be mostly constant then... then from there begin work.. your whole map is gong to need a ton of work.. if you can find someone who's done it already for those injectors and will give you a copy of their fuel map that would be a good starting point and will save you a ton of time.

Thanks for the imput. The only problem is that I have a 2.2 block that might throw the maps off.

Your profile says you have an 18g...but how the hell are you not maxing out the STi injectors is whats picking my brain
. Why did you get it tuned with such small injectors? You will need a complete fuel map retune, dont skimp out and get it done right with a WBO2. Since you were probably maxing them out, the boost map might have more potential which means the timing map needs some adjustment. Looks like you are facing a complete retune. |

Since you paid to have it done once and didnt learn about the tuning portion in the interm, your best bet may be to go get it tuned again
![]() That way youll be safe, and have an excellent consistant map. |

Why did I get it tuned with such small injectors? At the time PE600's cost over $600 and I already had Sti injectors in there from my old setup... There was no injector mod at that time. I've been running this setup for 6 months. |

Did you ask anyone in the injector mod thread if they have a map for it? That may be a good direction to go in ![]() |

I think MustGoFast pretty much summed it up too. |

silverscooby, if I were you I wouldn't mess with those injectors unless you absolutely NEED them. I just got tuned on them.. I needed to get an ECUtek reflash to get them to idle perfect, and have the cold start to idle perfect 14.7:1. Before the reflash it would idle around 9.9-10.5:1.. SUPER rich. Now it's just like before. But it's an absolutely pain getting those things out. Crush the FPR. That will give you plenty of fuel until you get a bigger turbo ![]() |
