Lightbulb Attn. Imprezidents:

This is just a little FYI, and it stems back to my stupid knowledge thread from long ago. On the home page in the article about Dale Earnhardt, there is a grammatical error. According to the English Language, the letter "H" is the only consonant that needs the be preceded by the word "an" as opposed to "a". So the first two words should read "An horrific" and not "A horrific".
Sorry, but it's early and I am already bored. But here is one more stupid fact for everyone: If a guy lights a woman's cigarette for her, it makes him 7% more attractive.

What you say is not true. It should only be 'an' in front of words in which the 'h' is not pronounced. 'An' is only used when the sound immediately following it is a vowel sound.

Actually, both of you are wrong, and I have a pretty powerful argument to back that up. In the Bible, and I do quote, is the following phrase:

"My brother Esau is an hairy man."

The bible is full of grammatical errors. It is just a book, and therefore has errors. An is not used before any h usage. It is only used when the h is silent, like stated above.

IMPREZIV,

You would be right if the 'h' were silent, such as "an honor".
But if the word starts with a non-silent 'h' such as horror, it would be preceded with an 'a' as in "a horror".

Regards,
Ed.

I love AN contraversy.
Hey, did you also know that your tongue has a pattern on it, which, like fingerprints, is different for everyone and could technically be used as identification.

I knew the bible ref. was a joke. But seriously, doesn't your tongue pattern change? Is it always identifiable?

Boys... this isn't the OT forum...

and by the way... lighting a womans cigarette might make you 7% more attractive, but the fact she's smoking makes her 100% less attractive!
