Rossi can ride or drive anything...he is just a natural. He took last years Ferrarri out on a test ride and after spinning out once or twice he went on to put in a lap faster than the best qualifying time at that track.

He is the Man. Best roadracer in history. MY 2cents.

Rally GB 2003, Valentino made it to stage 2 before finding the ditch.

Pastrana did put some good times up on Lagemann at the Rim

It was 2002. Glenn Wallace and I were just up the stage from him when he went off, they penned everyone in so spectators couldnt help him, so he had to retire. All he needed was a push from a couple of spectators, the car was undamaged.

Shame really, but thats the modern Rally GB for you.

Rossi has the feel for any vehicle dynamic.

He will excell in a car after he's done in the bike world.

Flavio Briatore said that he was irresonsilbe for taking the Ferrari around the Fiarono test track. He thinks that F1 is no joke is not just something you can pick up. Rossi lapped within 4 seconds of Schumi's record on his first go at a 900 bhp beast. Sounds to me like Rossi is not joking.

sounds like the ferrari boss is a bit nervous when it comes to Rossi. Schumi maybe in some trouble in Willams/BMW decide to court Rossi with some serious cash and a ride. not that Montoya sucks or anything.

I'll agree the kid has TONS of talent and skill but taking a F1 car around a track at max attack on the first lap is rather stupid. I doubt MS does that when he goes to the Ferrari test track.

But i'd love to see Rossi with a good F1 team. Perhaps Sauber or Ferrari. I doubt he'd be put on the Ferrari team since MS has another season or three left in him and Barrichelo (sp?) won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Perhaps they can coach Rossi to take MS's place when he retires.

I have heard that there are ties to Renualt. Renualt and Yamaha (Rossi' current team) along with both of their cig adevertisers have ties togther. Thats why Briatore was miphed about him going with Ferrari.

What makes you think Schumacher would lack speed or courage on a bike?

Those are'nt bikes, they are beasts of a two-wheeled weapon. I gauruntee MS would not get within 20 seconds of Vale's time.

I won't say he would'nt be couragious but it is possible for him to be stupid. The second is much less likely. He's not stupid.

I have yet to see any car driver come close to gong fast on a motorcycle swap. A few I remember are Colin M. and M Andrtetti and they both ride regularily. It's just so foriegn to the 4 wheeled world one cannot imagine.

Courage is important, but on a GP bike, it is a small part of the equation. I raced in the Aprilia Cup National road race series on a spec Aprilia 250GP bike and while 4 seconds slower in a F1 car is still fairly slow, Schumacher could ride the Yamaha M1 for a year and not get within 4 seconds of Rossi's time. Those bikes are that hard to ride.......

How do you guys think Tommi Makinen would do on a bike? Seems like he'd be good at it.

I forgot what I read/saw/heard it, but supposedly the skillz involved with racing a two wheeler is easier to translate into a four wheeler. Whereas the vice-versa is not true. I could've swore that the rattled of a few bike racers who become reasonably succesful car racers, but only one (I think) car racer who became a succesful bike racer. OF course, the names elude me. blah.

-shat himself on a SCOOTER.

wistfull I agree.

Tommi spends alot of time offroad riding. On a GP bike he would be no diff than anyone else riding that bike for the first time.

Michael Himself actually said he would like to open up a GP bike on a straight away but he said that he is not comfortable with the turns.
