Default Does the WRX STi (2004, 2005) have sound deadening?

I was wondering if the WRX STI (2004, 2005) have sound deadening? I'm assuming that it does, but I heard that it doesn't come with a sunroof, so I was afraid that Subaru decided not to add sound deadening as well for weight reduction. I'm coming from an Integra Type-R (no sound deadening whatsoever), so I'm really sick of the road noise. Thanks.

None in my '04. Although it's not too bad. Especially when you get rid of the OEM tires(which are sweet, but are noisy),

AFAIK the EVO is lacking deadener as well. You should search around the Car Audio section. Lots of talk about sound deadening in there. Personally I bought lots of RAAMmat sound deadener and Ensolite foam and will vanquish all unwanted sound myself

Deadner = weight

Speed and more weight = slow

Therefore no deadner

Go to a local meet and ride along with an owner. Then you'll know for sure.

The only bad thing about it is that my speakers rattle to hell on "not to hard" of a load.

It's probably about 100 lbs of sound deadening. I bet it's not even 100 lbs. Anyways, I'd rather have a quiet comfortable car than a loud annoying car and be able to run a few tenths of a second faster. Unless of course, it's strictly a track car.

some guys who stripped the already stripped down STi found some sticky stuff under the area of the rear seat, but yes, you can hear every little piece of junk hit the underside of the car. mash the gas pedal on a dirt road in second gear at about 4000rpm and you'll go deaf from the sound of gravel blasting the paint off the underside of your car. i personally like it.

Yeah, I liked it too. But after a year of no sound deadening, I can't take it anymore. Not even worth it IMO. To each their own.

Hey, compared to a type r the sti is quieter. I drive my sti everyday and its very comfortable. My friend has a type r with control coilovers and apexi n1. That thing was loud inside and out. I think the sti is even quieter than my 94 mr2. However, the tires make a lot of noise. I took my mom for a ride and she said it rode pretty nice and was quiet. But that was compared to the mr2.

if you keep the RPM's above 5000 all you can hear is the motor and it sounds so sweet!!! this song comes at the expense of gas mileage and your neighbors will not invite you to any BBQ's.

if you don't like noise from the engine, why buy sporty car??????
if you don't like the noise when VTEC kicks in, why buy TYPE R???
the noise of the VTEC was the main consideratioin to made me bought my R... don't you think the noise of the vtec from 5300 to 8400 rpm is great?
i think the road noise are some sign for you to realize what is happening out there, presonally i like to hear that kinda noise when i am driving in some areas where i am not familiar with.
you can buy the M3 if you want comfort

by the way, the STI is very very very quiet when comparing to the R...

Do you prefer sound deadening because you want to reduce road noise, or you want your stereo to sound better?

I can attest to the fact that Dynamat makes door speakers sound 1,000,000 times better. Ok, maybe not a million, but probably at least 3 times better.

I like the sound of the engine and VTEC, but not the road noise.

How is the STI more quiet than the Type-R? Does that mean that the STI has SOME sound deadening?

Different levels of comfort/performance, according to our perspective, can be obtained with a judicious application of sound deadening materials. One is the none version and for hauling arse around the backroads, who cares how loud it is! Another is for those that do a bit of daily driving and want some sembilance of reasonable noise abatement. That can be acheived with a weight penalty, in the middle of the car, around 30 lbs, with the side effect of improving the audio system SQ, being that you have installed one. Then you can move on to the exceptionally quiet HP car with a more serious input of time and materials, yet keep it under 60 lbs, to make your car like a limo. Of course there will be disclaimeres, loud exhausts are hard to control, quality of the work is paramount, etc.
The real bottom line is that you what makes you happy, no matter what the rest of us think, we really do not count

I appologize for any gramatical or spelling errors, I am tired, slightly intoxicated and just don't care, lol

Good night, my mobile enthusiasts!!

the 05 doesnt have sound deadning matts either. If when I change those tires the road noise is still there, then Ill put some of those matts to help reduce the road or buzzing from the tires.

The Type-R has no sticky stuff anywhere. I've stripped my whole car before so I know. The STI probably has some minor sound deadening here and there.

Do STI's even come with floormats? All the pics I have seen on the internet, I've only seen blue carpet.
