Whereabouts? Downtown? A suburb?

Unfortunately, most of the good stuff is a carride away....by goodstuff, I mean mountain trails, rivers, etc...

Downtown: Pike Place Market, Mariners game, Seattle Center (Space Needle, EMP, etc.), various art galleries.

Maybe during the summer we need a "things to do in Seattle" sticky?

mariners = gonna lose, just go up to the "hit it here" cafe on the 3rd floor and get plowed . People here are very stuck up/apprehensive and will never start a conversation, friendly is a loose term.

I don't know that I'd say people here are stuck up, I'd call it more "reserved". Maybe it's the months of grey clouds.

Anyway, if you're within walking distance of the ballpark, that would be in the Pioneer Square area. Watch out for the bums, though they're mostly harmless. Lots of bars on 1st Ave there. Also, I'd take a ferry ride - you can walk on for fairly cheap, and go to Bainbridge Island and back, just for the fresh air and great view. And lastly, a little bit south of the ballpark (short taxi ride) there's a cool indoor karting place you could check out - here's the website: www.champskarting.com

If you are gonna pay teh distance to go to champs, you might as well go to sykart, it is way better. I'd be down for goin to the wingdome, if we can get some people to meet up.

Wow...everybody is telling me about the bums! Should I ask them for money?

Thanks for the tips so far! Looks like i'll be free after working hours (5-6ish??). I better start looking at maps to see where this stuff is at.

Seems like you have decent public transportation. Might come in handy

Hey,
There's a ton to do and yeah, public transportation is good. The Subie community in this area is awesome, hope you get to meet some of us.

We are usually busy working, but I love wings, so maybe I can talk Chad into a wing night...

Not trying to hijack the thread, but is how is Sykart better? I've never been to Champs, and Sykart is closer to me so I've been there a few times. Is it just the electric vs gas thing? Just curious cause I was thinking about trying out Champs...

PM me if you don't mind - don't want to take over the thread.

We should have a go-kart night!!! I'm sure you'd be interested in that. Plus Claim Jumpers is right by the track at Sykart. I just like the karts better at Sykart, and the track is more challenging, you have to be a good driver to have a good lap time.

I was there about a week ago.

Fun stuff I did was
Go to Fry's electronics
Eat Ivar's fish on the water front
Visit Carter Subaru

I was only there 2 days and find it WAY more interesting than Spokane its kinda of mini L.A. only people drive a little slower.

Since I'm new to the area too. I'd be up for meeting some of you 'friendly' folks.

wings, karting, Mariners game, whatever.....

BTW, I've found that Seattle people are much friendlier than Charlotte people. Just a data-point for ya

Count me in for Sykart - just post the time and I'm there.

Went to Sykart about a week ago and drove the two person kart with my girlfriend in the back. Talk about a good arm workout!
